(NaturalHealth365) I am often asked the question: “If there was one word of advice that you could give to women afflicted with breast cancer, what would it be?” Since cancer is such a complex issue, there is no quick answer. However, if women would start with this one step – it could make a huge difference in their outcome.

Stop Eating Sugar

Cancer cells LOVE sugar. A study published in the International Journal of Endocrinology states: “Cancer cells are well known to display an enhanced sugar uptake and consumption. In fact, sugar transporters are deregulated in cancer cells so they incorporate higher amounts of sugar than normal cells.”

In other words, cancer cells have a higher affinity for sugar than regular healthy cells. They need sugar to continue to grow and multiply.

It’s a CRIME to offer chemotherapy patients sugar after treatment!

Additional proof that cancer loves sugar is seen with a diagnostic tool that is used by mainstream medicine, called a PET scan (Positron Emission Tomography). This technology takes advantage of the cancer cells voracious appetite for sugar and helps to determine the extent of the cancer in the body. Before a PET scan, the patient is injected with a radioactive sugar solution. The cancer cells absorb the sugar solution and show up like little light bulbs during the scan.

High fructose corn syrup is a major source of sugar in the North American diet, to the tune of 150 grams of sugar per day or almost half a pound of sugar per day! Studies have shown that high fructose levels contribute to altered cellular metabolism and DNA damage.

If your doctor is uneducated – get another doctor

So if we eliminate the obvious sources of sugar like candy bars, colas and junk food – what else needs to be avoided? A simple way to remember the sugar sources is by the color. Anything white needs to be eliminated from the diet – white rice, white pasta, white bread, white sugar, etc. These simple carbohydrates are quickly broken down into simple sugars and cause the blood sugar to spike.

Some of you are panicking by now – never eat anything deliciously sweet ever again? The good news is that there are healthy alternatives that do not affect your health in a negative way.

Sweet flavors do NOT have to threaten your life

Stevia is a non-caloric herbal sweetener with no side effects. It can be used in baking and to sweeten your teas and lemonades. Some people find that the powdered Stevia has a bitter after taste – while the liquid version is a little more palatable.

Another great alternative to sugar is Xylitol. Xylitol is a natural sweetener derived from the fibrous parts of plants. It looks like sugar and has a similar taste to sugar, but it has a very low glycemic index of 7 compared to sugar’s index of 100. You can bake with it and it dissolves very easily in liquid. However, Xylitol should be used very sparingly if you are afflicted with cancer.

Is fruit “safe” for cancer patients?

The question of fruit and sugar often needs to be addressed. If you are on a breast cancer healing journey, limit your fruit intake to low glycemic fruits like Granny Smith green apples and low glycemic berries. These should also be consumed with moderation.

Simply by being proactive and eliminating all refined sugars from your diet, you are strengthening your immune system and starving the cancer cells and getting one step closer to being a victorious breast cancer conqueror.

I thought Xilitol was a rat poison and should not be used by humans.

I have been doing my research as far to stay away from drugs like tomaxfin to prevent breast cancer. I try to do a lot of natural way to protect my self from the breast cancer coming back. I take turmeric vit. D, E, probiotic and etcetera. It is hard for me to give up super in my coffee. But I have heard plenty of no sugar in my diet I think I need to be brave and give it up. The only thing that works for me if I have a cold ot a sore throat is honey. I think that should be ok once in a while. I drink smoothie using Barries.

Cancer cells can not be starved by eliminating sugar from the diet. The blood
glucose level will never fall low enough to have any effect on cancer cell growth without harming normal cells.

The good news is that cancer cells can be starved of essential amino acids
without harming normal healthy cells. The amino acid methionine can be lowered in the blood plasma to levels that starve cancer cells and trigger apoptosis. Methionine is highest in animal proteins and soy. For detailed information on a methionine restricted diet, visit: NutritionalOncology.net

coddling the whiners and moaners and babies. oh, be brave; oh my god. with no character and little intelligence, go ahead and ingest all the sugar you want. the genome will be all the better for your absence.

there is no rugged individualism, just political correctness and weakness. there is no logic or strength. take in all the chlorine and fluoride you can. wait, obviously, you already have.

xylitol a rat poison. good one. where am i? why would anyone want to broadcast their ignorance onto the internet when all one has to do is google anything to find the necessary information?

when one doesn’t know the difference between warfarin and xylitol, it is better to do private research than open your mouth and let everyone know the state of your ignorance.

read, research, show some fortitude and personal initiative. or, just suck down the sodas and plastic burgers and join the pharmaceutical bandwagon for life. pathetic.

I have given up sugar and everything white, but what about whole grains, bread and cereals? What about relatively low glycemic index fruits, bananas, apples, grapefruit etc?
