Accelerated healing with the power of the mind

(NaturalHealth365) Research suggests that simply thinking about exercise can increase the strength of your muscles. Can you imagine how much influence your mind has over your life? The results may surprise you.

Recently, a study was conducted comparing people who went to the gym with people who carried out mental workouts in their head. The people who actually did exercise increased their muscle strength by 30% while those performing (only) “virtual workouts” in their mind – increased muscle strength by almost half as much!

Lead researcher Guang Yue, an exercise psychologist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio had volunteers between 20 and 35 years old imagine flexing one of their biceps as hard as they could 5x a week during daily training sessions. He ensured that the participants were not doing any physical exercise. So what do you think happened? (keep reading)

The mind has a powerful effect on physical outcomes. The researchers discovered a 13.5% increase in muscle size and strength after just a few weeks of visual imagery. These results remained for 3 months after the virtual training stopped. (wow!)

Mental imagery has been shown to be just as effective in helping people overcome chronic health conditions. Imagine using the mind to reverse conditions like high blood pressure or fibromyalgia. These “visualization” techniques have also been used to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and eliminate pain.

Psychologist Jeanne Archterberg of the institute for Transpersonal Psychology in California, used mental imagery to heal herself of a rare cancer of the eye. Excited by her results, Archterberg studied cancer patients and found that patients with the greatest success of healing were those who had the ability to visualize vividly, practice regularly, and hold a clear visual intention.

How to turn your genes “on” or “off”

The science of “Epigenetics” demonstrates that genes turn on or off depending upon their environment. And, happily, we are seeing more (and more) conventional medical doctors embracing this understanding. If you study Epigenetics – you’ll come to realize why natural (wholistic) therapies can be so effective!

Don’t ever believe that you are a victim of your genetics. Dr. Bruce Lipton, author of The Biology of Belief has demonstrated that genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead DNA is controlled by signals from the cells outside the environment. Naturally, your thoughts, feelings and emotions play a significant role in cellular health.

Your belief system has power over your physical reality. Weather these beliefs are true or false, positive or negative – they are communicated to every cell in your body and have the power to heal or threathen your life!

Bernie Siegel, M.D., former cancer surgeon and best-selling author of Love, Medicine and Miracles has been teaching people about the power of the mind for decades. Dr. Siegel has helped countless (cancer) patients to experience the joy of “spontaneous remission” by simply changing their attitude and belief system.

On a recent trip to California, I had the pleasure of meeting Jay Kordich, the father of juicing. At age 25, Jay was diagnosed with bladder cancer and cured himself by changing his lifestyle habits. Jay knows first hand how proper nutrition (and the right attitude) can turn off the genes responsible for disease.

I’ve also had the pleasure of spending time with Charlotte Gerson, daughter of the great physician Max Gerson. Charlotte teaches that when the body is stressed due to poor nutrition, chemicals in the food, and toxins in the environment the genes that cause disease turn on and express themselves. She also believes that our thoughts and emotions play a significant role in our ability to reverse disease.

Ashwagandha Naturally Lowers Stress

(NaturalHealth365) Ashwagandha is an amazing and easy way to counter the toll of stress. This is good news considering that stress underlies many chronic and inflammatory diseases.

Ashwagandha is also known as Indian winter Cherry. It is a shrub cultivated in India and North America. In Africa, Mediterranean and India it grows as a wild shrub. The shrub is a member of the tomato family, and bears red fruit. Unlike tomatoes Ashwagandha fruit are small like berries.

The root of this plant has been used for thousands of years by Ayurvedic practitioners to treat different health condition. The role of ashwagandha is seen not only as calming, but as a tonic to replenish lost energy.

Stress

Ashwagandha is sometimes referred to as Indian Ginseng. It produces energy in a way that helps the body calm down and sleep. What it does is help the body take care of stress rather than masking it. One of the reasons that ashwagandha helps with stress is in its ability to maintain normal adrenal levels.

The adrenals get depleted when stressed by physical, emotional, and psychological events. Caffeine, nicotine, processed foods and sugar deplete the adrenal reserve, causing fatigue, depression, insomnia, and poor concentration.

Since ashwagandha is used to soothe and calm down a stressed mind and nerves, it not only helps the adrenals, but normalizes the sympathetic nervous system.

Most people in modern society are in the sympathetic mode. This isn’t healthy for long extended periods. This coupled with adrenal fatigue produces brain fog, memory problems, nervous exhaustion and loss of muscular energy. When there are changes in sleep duration it impinges on the quality of life. Sleep patterns change with low adrenal function and an activated sympathetic nervous system.

Cortisol

What ashwagandha does is reduce the cortisol levels in chronically stressed individuals. The body has a built in mechanism for protecting us from acute and immediate stress. The effect is known as the “stress response.” This involves production of what is called the “adrenaline rush” which is a massive release of cortisol or the “stress hormone.”

We are only meant to experience a short term burst of cortisol. What happens is blood sugar levels go up to provide needed energy. Calcium is pulled from storage making it available to muscles for a quick response. In the wilderness this is a plus, but in the asphalt jungle of today it is a determent

Chronic stress in modern society leads to all sorts of major health problems. Cortisol levels never get to return to normal, and overexposure to cortisol leads to a depressed immune response, high blood pressure, loss of muscle mass and cognitive problems.

Science

Science hasn’t much to offer, in fact the lowering of cortisol levels, fixing adrenal function and turning off the sympathetic nervous system are not within the realm of allopathic medicine.

The use of ashwagandha is relegated to the medical system of India. It is known as the ginseng of India, and used in Ayurvedic medicine as a general tonic. It is an adaptogen used to rejuvenate, and calm the nerves, and is thought to have a strong and protective effect on the nervous system.

Ashwagandha has so many therapeutic applications. In America it is used by naturopathic physicians and can be bought in health food stores. There is enough evidence that stress doesn’t have to cascade into a life altering condition. Along with a healthy lifestyle, ashwagandha can help clear the way for authentic change to take place.

The Secrets to Anti-Aging

(NaturalHealth365)The blueprint for a longer and healthier life is just being written. There are many aging research centers staffed with what are considered the best brains in this field. We are in the midst of a crucial period where we are looking to radically redefine aging.

Gerontology

In the future, we will be leaving the old model of aging behind.
Gerontology is going to be perceived of as minimally effective at extending human life span. The newer research looks at if you postpone age-related diseases it would be a way to postpone aging itself. This approach is different than the model now which is to keep age related conditions from interfering with daily activities. Age related diseases and disabilities include Alzheimer’s disease, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, hearing loss, vision problems, and joint problems. Gerontologists are looking forward to just modest progress. The view here is that aging is natural and not a disease.

Extending Lifespan-The New Path

The idea is to extend the human life span has been around for a long time. It is only now that we are getting to a phase where scientists are attempting to accomplish this.

Aging gracefully is still on the front burner, but scientists are looking to pave a new and radically different approach to stop the clock. We are in the mist of trying to reprogram genes and regenerate cellular function. Regenerative medicine is the process of creating functional tissue to repair and replace aging and damaged cells.

The potential for cellular regeneration is a new scientific initiative. This is based on a belief that you can enhance and turn back the clock by transforming aging cells into young stem cells. This could be a way to combat organ wear and tear and bolster their function.

Research into programming genes to extent life span has been going on for awhile. Differences in gene expression between young people and the elderly are well-documented. We see that in how our bodies work when we are young and as we age. We already have some control over our gene expression with the lifestyle choices we make.

Cellular Support Now

While all of the degenerative conditions are related to aging, many are really connected to our lifestyle. When you hear the term energy to burn you are talking about more than just a phase, you are identifying crucial component to a healthy life span. Cellular energy may be the key to longevity and health.

We are a chemical and energy system that responds to the environment. So with all the millions that are going to be spend on this new field it is essential that we target the right mechanism. We are in a race against time, because every year the toxic deluge increases. Bolstering lifespan while exposing everyone to ethanol, organic solvents, pharmaceuticals and mycotoxins makes the central role of eradicating aging a more prolonged process. Overexposure to stress hormones, estrogen disrupters, pharmaceuticals, and industrial chemicals is in itself a factor in chemical induced aging.

With nearly 70,000 industrial chemicals found in everyday products, and 1,000 synthetic chemicals introduced each year, we are increasingly put at risk.

Buying Time

It has been demonstrated that there is a means to transforming the human lifespan. You may not learn how to live forever, but it is well known that the unusually high life span of the people of Iceland and Okinawa Japan are due to a sharp distinction between their lifestyle and ours.

Longevity is both length of time and functioning capacity in later years. The groups of people that at this time have an impressive lifespan eat a local diet, which consists of nutrient-rich, low calorie foods, and have an active lifestyle. They live in an environmentally sound environment, and may have smaller amounts of stress. What we can take away from this is; it is how you see the world, and what you ingest that may determine your lifespan.

Manifesting Abundance

(NaturalHealth365) How can I turn my dreams into reality? Manifesting abundance is based on the Natural Law of Attraction. We attract everything into our life, such as, money, relationships, health and work-related opportunities based on our thoughts, feelings and actions.

The Peace Pilgrim, was a silver haired woman who walked 25,000 miles from 1953 to 1981 in the name of peace. She vowed to “remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace, walking until given shelter and fasting until given food.” She said:

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

As spiritual beings, we understand that all of our thoughts, feelings and actions consist of vibrational energy. Positive experiences, such as love, happiness and compassion are higher vibrational energies. Negative experiences, such as fear, anger and boredom are lower vibrational energies. Therefore, the key to manifesting abundance is to keep ourselves aligned with good feelings.

Focus on what you want with strong positive emotions. Energy goes were attention flows. Visualize what you want and see your wish already fulfilled. Be happy in the knowing that you can attract whatever you desire.

Manifesting Abundance Means NO DOUBT!

We are not talking about an occasional thought like, “I would like to have a million dollars” – but you don’t really believe it. Manifesting abundance is about our greatest desires which are thought about continuously with the strongest of mental images, emotions and acted upon in every possible way. World-class athletes understand how to turn dreams into reality.

Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer of all time, said:

“It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen”.

We are Manifesting Abundance
Scientific Evidence Say It’s True

The Placebo Effect illustrates how the mind influences our future health. Since 1955, science has been documenting cases of spontaneous remissions of pain, healed ulcers, eased nausea and even warts eliminated. Health improvements take place due to a strong belief in its possibility.

Lynne McTaggart, an award-winning journalist and author of “The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World” states:

“Our bodies do not distinguish between a chemical process and the thought of a chemical process. Indeed, a recent analysis of 46,000 heart patients, half of whom were taking a placebo, revealed that patients fared equally well on the placebo as on the heart drug. The only factor determining their survival seemed to be a belief that the therapy would work and a willingness to follow it religiously.”

How Wishes Come True – A 10-Step Plan

Take three deep breaths. Imagine that air flows in through your heart and flows out through your feet to the Earth.

Remain quiet and continue breathing as you observe each breath.

Use the same method to observe your mind. Look at your thoughts without judging and let them pass by. You have thoughts, you are not your thoughts.

Make contact with your inner quiet place, a place of peace where you are free and strong.

Formulate your wish or intention. Make it as specific and detailed as possible.

Picture yourself on your way to success. Mentally rehearse each step in detail, concentrate on the difficult moments and make each action perfect. Use all your “senses” to summon and experience this new reality. See, hear, smell, taste and feel yourself in the desired situation.

Imagine yourself in a situation in which your wish has been fulfilled. Congratulate yourself on your victory.

Tune into the abundance of the universe. Know that you are carried by a larger force that stands by you and guides you. Repeat this process and experience the desired situation again and again until you feel a rock-solid trust. Believe in yourself. Go for it.

Tell yourself, “My wish has already been fulfilled, my goal has already been achieved, it has already happened.” Don’t doubt yourself or doubt the help you receive!

Smile and be grateful. Let go of your desire and relax in the knowledge that everything will come to you at the right time and in the right form.

(NaturalHealth365) Do spirits really exist? And, if so, how can spirit play a useful (and essential) role in our lives? The NaturalNews Talk Hour presents The Science behind Spirituality with our special guest Gary Schwartz, Ph.D. This program will inspire you to look at life in a whole new way – filled with hope and optimism.

“ANOTHER empowering show…thank you so much for all you do to educate those who are ready to receive.” – Regina

Do Angels and Spirits really exist

Yes! Believe it or not, science has evidence to show that divine intelligence is real and available to all of us – every day. In fact, Gary Schwartz, Ph.D., “reveals the tangible commitment that the Spirit World has made to partner with each and every human being to solve our personal and societal problems.” On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Dr. Schwartz takes us on a spiritual journey that will give you a renewed sense of energy and purpose.

“Gary Schwartz has been on a remarkable journey throughout his lifetime. His body of work is inspirational to me because his passion to bring science and spirit together is dominated by an empirical doctrine that is unimpeachable.” – Kelsey Grammer

The Sacred Promise Revealed

In his latest book, Gary Schwartz, Ph.D. provides “evidence-based hope” for the existence of intention, intelligence, wisdom and love in the Universe, including us. Many people (mistakenly believe) that Dr. Schwartz is trying to prove the existence of Spirit. He says, No! He is merely trying to give a greater spiritual reality (if it exist) the “opportunity to prove itself”.

In other words, Dr. Schwartz is suggesting a “proof of possibility” that Spirit is real and can play a significant role in our lives. The motto of this research laboratory is “if it is real, it will be revealed…if it is fake, we’ll find the mistake.” Dr. Schwarz is convinced, based on the emerging scientific evidence, that there is a serious possibility of the existence of a greater spiritual reality.

Can your thoughts change your life

June 20, 2011 by Jonathan
Filed under Natural Healing, Spiritual Wellness

(NaturalHealth365) Did you know that our subconscious mind runs 95 percent of our habits and behaviors? From birth to six years old, our life experiences create a belief system that gets stored in our subconscious mind. This information, if left uninterrupted, runs the rest of our lives.

So, you may be thinking, is it a big deal if our subconscious mind runs the show? If you were raised in a perfect environment – then the answer is no. But, if you want to make some changes in your life – then you’ll need to know more.

“The subconscious mind is a MILLION TIMES more powerful a processor of information than is the conscious mind.” – Dr. Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D., internationally recognized cellular biologist and author of “The Biology of Belief”

If you are feeling a lack of love, money is evil or low self-esteem issues then you need to consider reprogramming your subconscious mind. First, recognize your self-imposed, destructive thoughts. Then, by using positive affirmations, you can improve the quality of your life – one thought at a time.

A positive affirmation is a statement that is repeated over and over again to create a desired result. It must be said with attention, belief and strong, emotional desire. These statements change the workings of our subconscious mind by replacing self-imposed, destructive thoughts and beliefs with more desirable thoughts of what we want out of life.

Understanding Our Subconscious Mind

Many self-help experts agree that there are two prerequisites for change. First, you will need a program or system to change your life. Secondly, you’ll need a strong belief in the probability of your success.

“Our thoughts are creative, it is therefore vital to the process of change that you direct your thoughts and thinking and maintain a positive outlook. Affirmations are like little reminder notes to the inner-self. Affirmations are always positive and harness the power of positive thinking to keep the inner self on track!” – Louise Hay, Self Help and Motivational Author

Positive affirmations are a perfect methodology for change and you just need to supply the belief. Without belief, you cannot change. Open your mind to the endless possibilities that exist in your life. Then hold on for the best trip you’ll ever take.

Are you still doubting the power of your thoughts? Get rid of those doubts because they will only be the roadblocks to a new life. So, how do you unleash your potential?

The answer begins with a simple thought, word and feeling. Many personal development experts suggest that to realize our dreams, start by asking, “What am I thinking and saying to myself everyday.” Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do.”

For many people, it’s a challenging concept to grasp. Are your thoughts and words aligned with what you really want in life? I, for one, have made many changes since becoming aware of these patterns.

Louise Hay, self-help and motivational author says, “You can start by repeating a simple, short phrase that is easy to remember. Say these words anytime you like for as often as you like. Try it when you are walking, driving, waiting in line, etc.”

Try to avoid tension or negative thoughts that diminish the effectiveness of your desired goal. Always state your phrase in the present tense. And, finally, put some happy vibes (or feeling) behind those thoughts.

Remember, an affirmation is always more powerful when it’s stated in the present tense. For example, let’s say you want a better job. A positive affirmation would be – “I now have a wonderful job”.

Another way to be more effective is to always express your affirmations with a positive statement. In other words, to improve your physical health – don’t say “I am no longer sick”. It’s always better to say, “I am now perfectly healthy in body, mind and spirit.”

And, finally, keep it simple. Shorter affirmations that are easy to say – have a far greater impact on your subconscious mind. Some examples of positive affirations include: I am healthy and fit; Wealth is pouring into my life; I have a lot of energy; and Everything is getting better every day.

The Power of the Mind

(NaturalHealth365.com) The Biology of Belief – Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter and Miracles is a book that brings attention to the amazing new awareness that is currently rewriting the science of biology and medicine.

Until recently, conventional science has held that genes control life, a concept known as genetic determinism. While this disempowering belief is still held as truth by the mainstream public, leading edge research in the exciting new field of epigenetics reveals a completely different truth.

Genes do not control life. It is the environment, and more specifically, our perception of the environment that controls gene activity. In the end, it comes down to a simple case of mind over matter in controlling the fate of our lives.

Dr. Bruce Lipton’s Amazing Discovery!

His research on cloned stem cells, initiated over forty years ago, revealed the mechanisms by which perceptions created in the mind control the lives and fate of the 50 trillion living cells that comprise our bodies.

Thought processes cause the brain to release information-containing neurochemical and vibrational signals that are sent to the cells. Signals sent by the brain are translated into biological responses in the cell through the action of protein perception switches built into the cell skin (membrane). The membrane proteins that read and respond to these environmental signals are called receptors.

It was through his study of membrane receptors that he was led to an awareness that would radically transform his life. Though he sought science as an alternate to accepting spiritual truths, lessons learned from his stem cell cultures revealed that life was not an issue of science OR spirituality, it was an amalgam of science AND spirituality. The reasoning behind his transformation from scientist to spiritual scientist is described in the following excerpt from the Biology of Belief.

Spirit and Science by Dr. Bruce Liption

Conclusions drawn in the previous chapters of the book are based upon a quarter of a century of studying cloned cells and are grounded in the astonishing new discoveries that are rewriting our understanding of the mysteries of life. The conclusions I offer in this Epilogue are also based upon my scientific training they do not spring from a leap of religious faith. I know conventional scientists may shy away from them, because they involve Spirit, but I am confident in presenting them for two reasons.

One reason is a philosophical and scientific rule called Occam’s razor. Occam’s razor holds that when several hypotheses are offered to explain a phenomenon, the simplest hypothesis that accounts for most of the observations is the most likely hypothesis and should be considered first.

The new science of the magical mem-Brain in conjunction with the principles of quantum physics offer the simplest explanation that accounts for the science of not only allopathic medicine, but also for the philosophy and practice of complementary medicine and spiritual healing as well. Also, after so many years of personally applying the science I have outlined in this book, I can attest to its power to change lives.

However, I concede that while science led me to my euphoric moment of insight, the experience resembled instantaneous conversions described by mystics. Remember the biblical story of Saul who was knocked off his horse with a lightning bolt? For me, there was no lightning bolt that came forth from the Caribbean skies.

But I ran wild-eyed into the medical library because the nature of the cell’s membrane that was downloaded into my awareness in the wee hours of the morning convinced me that we are immortal, spiritual beings who exist separately from our bodies. I had heard an undeniable inner voice informing me that I was leading a life based not only on the false premise that genes control biology, but also on the false premise that we end when our physical bodies die.

I had spent years studying molecular control mechanisms within the physical body and at that astounding moment came to realize that the protein switches that control life are primarily turned on and off by signals from the environment the Universe.

You may be surprised that it was science that led me to that moment of spiritual insight. In scientific circles, the word spirit is as warmly embraced as the word evolution is in fundamentalist circles. As you know, spiritualists and scientists approach life in vastly different ways. When life is out of whack for spiritualists, they beseech God or some other invisible force for relief. When life is out of whack for scientists, they run to the medicine cabinet for a chemical. It is only with a drug like Rolaids that they are able to spell relief.

The fact that science led me to spiritual insight is appropriate because the latest discoveries in physics and cell research are forging new links between the worlds of Science and Spirit. These realms were split apart in the days of Descartes centuries ago. However, I truly believe that only when Spirit and Science are reunited will we be afforded the means to create a better world.

(NaturalHealth365) Did you know that anxiety is a form of fear? It’s apprehension of anticipated events or situations that lead to this unwarranted stress in our life. The emphasis is important to understand…anticipation! The solution is to live life in the present moment – yesterday is gone and tomorrow hasn’t arrived.

Anxiety is a product of the mind. In order to reduce anxiety you must change your mind. Your thoughts help create your future. Give thought to the fact that we all come from the same source of life. Whatever you feel comfortable in calling it, the Universe; Divine Intelligence or G-D. Know that you are a special, unique individual with incredible potential for goodness, prosperity and happiness.

Give and You Will Receive! Give up trying to control people or events in your life. Your day is filled with endless possibilities to help yourself, family, friends and even strangers. Of course, seemingly stressful events will occur but your power lies in the ability to characterize these events negatively or positively. Every event in life is an opportunity to grow. How will you respond?

Develop a strong, positive belief system. Take action to strengthen your higher level of consciousness. Listen to that small voice inside of you. It’s telling you everything you need to know. You must believe 100% in your possibilities for success.

Action Step #1: Good nutrition is essential to maintaining a healthy state of mind. Review these suggestions with a trusted health care provider to reduce your anxiety and improve the quality of your life.

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine and smoking. They deplete your B vitamins, which are invaluable for maintaining calm.
  • Eliminate trigger foods, such as, simple sugar; artificially-sweetened foods; nitrate-preserved meats; MSG; fast foods, fried foods and soda.
  • Eat simple, calming foods, such as, organic whole grains, potatoes; oatmeal plus lightly-steamed vegetables.
  • Increase your consumption of foods rich in calcium to help you with stress, such as, organic almonds; soy foods and dark leafy greens (i.e. kale)
  • Try foods rich in magnesium to protect your nervous system, such as, kelp; wheat germ; bran; most nuts, tofu and miso
  • Get foods rich in B vitamins to support your adrenals and nerves, such as, whole grains; beans and nuts.
  • Enjoy foods rich in vitamin C to improve your stress response, such as, peppers; greens; broccoli, kiwi, blueberries and strawberries.

Finally, I offer you a morning meditation designed to set the tone for your day. Say it slowly and repeat it as often as you like. Remember, you are not alone; you are a part of a magnificent universe. There is real order and purpose to your life. Turning anxiety into happiness may be a meditation away – try it today…

I Accept, I Thank, I Surrender. In Front of You; You, the Universe; You, the Cosmos; You, the Guiding Hand, G-D. A Living G-D, the G-D of All Existence. You have returned and restored my living essence, my consciousness of this coming day within me, as a consequence of your beneficence, mercy and goodness. Great is your faith in me and I will not let you down. And I will not let my family down. And I will not let my friends down. And I will not let the stranger down. And in that way, I will not let you down.
