Curcumin is a natural virus killer
(NaturalHealth365) The pharmaceutical industry would love to create (and profit) from an effective, broad-based killer of all viruses. So far, big pharma has only developed drugs with short term value and, eventually, these viruses become resistant to treatment. But, here’s the good news, Curcumin – found in turmeric – does successfully destroy unhealthy pathogens – naturally.
Curcumin – a powerful (non-toxic) virus killer
Science is looking at curcumin, as a natural anti-viral, which can help a patient’s body fight the virus and prevent it from entering healthy cells.
Up to now, there have been several studies examining the uses of turmeric in the treatment of HIV/AIDS. The International Journal of Antimicrobial agents found that a herbal cream was effective in preventing the HIV-1 virus from entering human cells, the first and primary ingredient in the ointment was curcumin. According to the author of the study G.P. Talwar, the cream had significant anti-viral properties and inhibited the growth of HIV.
According to researcher Sebia B. Kutluay and colleagues from Michigan State University who published a study in the medical journal “Virology” – curcumin significantly inhibited the herpes simplex virus by interfering with the replication of the virus in laboratory settings.
Human Papiloma Virus or HPV
Researchers from the Institute of Cytology & Preventive Oncology in New Delhi found curcumin prevented infection and inhibited the growth on the human papilloma virus, with the potential of preventing cervical cancer. This study was published in the “International Journal of Cancer.”
These studies have been overlooked as big pharma searches for commercial moneymakers.

Curcumin has been found to stop the deadly Rift Valley Fever virus from multiplying in infected cells, according to lead investigator Aarthi Narayanan at Mason’s National Center for Biodefense and Infectious Diseases. This study was published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Mosquito-borne Rift Valley Fever virus (RVFV) is an acute, fever-causing virus that affects domestic animals such as cattle, sheep and goats as well as humans. Narayanan is looking at curcumin as an answer to a family of virus called Bunyavirus, which feature Rift Valley Fever, Venezuela equine encephalitis and retroviruses, which includes HIV.
Kylene Kehn-Hall, a co-investigator on the study, adds, “We are very excited about this work, as curcumin not only dramatically inhibits RVFV replication in cell culture but also demonstrates efficacy against RVFV in a mouse model.”
Narayanan who grew up in India said, “Growing up in India, I was given turmeric all the time,” and added “Every time my son has a throat infection, I give turmeric to him.”
“I know this works. I know it works because I have seen it happen in real life,” Narayanan says. “I eat it every day. I make it a point of adding it to vegetables I cook every single day.”
A healthy recipe for virus control:
8 ounces (1 cup) organic almond or coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2-inch wide round slice of ginger root, peeled and finely chopped
Dash of cayenne pepper
1/2 – 1 teaspoon raw honey or other sweetener
Optional additions: cinnamon, cardamon
Natural remedy instructions:
Gently warm the organic almond or coconut milk on the stove. In a mug, combine the remaining ingredients. Drizzle a teaspoon of the warmed milk into the mug and mix until the liquid is smooth with no lumps.
Add the rest of the milk and mix well. You can leave the pieces of ginger in the tea, or strain it out before drinking.
The researchers think there’s more work to do before curcumin-based pharmaceuticals become available. But, most likely, making curcumin part of drug therapies will give curcumin something it doesn’t have now – negative side effects. Post your favorite (natural) remedy below.
