Lemons improve oxygen uptake and brain function

(NaturalHealth365) You’re about to learn how to dramatically improve your health without spending a small fortune. That’s right – in just 3 minutes – you can literally boost digestive function; improve oxygen uptake within the body; build alkalinity and increase your brain function. After reading this article – you’ll never look at lemons that same way again.

One of the sweetest ways to strengthen your body

Lemons, more than any other fruit, are charged with a purer concentration of negatively charged ions. Not to get too scientific, negative ions in the air gives us that wonderful feeling – when we are near waterfalls, on the beach or in the mountains.

Pierce J. Howard PhD, author of The Owners Manual for the Brain; Everyday Applications from Mind Brain Research and Director for Applied Cognitive Sciences in Charlotte, North Carolina says, “Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy, They also may protect against germs in the air.”

A better way to treat indigestion without harmful drugs

Due to the digestive qualities of pure (organic) lemon juice, symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, bloating and belching can be virtually wiped out. By drinking lemon juice regularly, the bowels are aided in eliminating waste more efficiently – thus controlling constipation and diarrhea. Simply put, if you have digestive issues – you need to add lemon juice to your daily routine.

And, of course, it (almost) goes without saying that one should stop eating heavily processed foods that disturb the digestive tract and make it difficult to enjoy life.

A great (simple) way to help remove toxins from the body

In the book Back to Eden, the author Mr. Kloss points out that, “The lemon is a wonderful stimulant to the liver and is a dissolvent of uric acid and other poisons, liquefies the bile, and is very good in cases of malaria. Sufferers of chronic rheumatism and gout will benefit by taking lemon juice”. Keep in mind, if your liver is NOT functioning well – your risk of physical and emotional illness is much higher.

Lemon juice can help people with a wide variety of health conditions, such as, asthma, colds, coughs, sore throat, diphtheria, influenza, heartburn, liver problems, scurvy, fevers and rheumatism. In addition, the high content of potassium in lemons can help nourish nerve cells and brain function.

My suggestion would be to drink lemon juice water – every day (for 3-4 weeks) and see how it makes you feel. Obviously, personal experience is our greatest teacher.

An easy way to increase oxygen levels within the body

Cancer patients will be happy to learn that fresh lemon juice will help adjust oxygen and calcium levels by regulating the carbohydrate levels which affect blood oxygen levels. And, since we all have circulating cancer cells in our body – adding a little lemon juice to pure, spring water is a good thing. If I were you – I would get started – right away.

If you have trouble finding (pure) spring water – then you may want to consider using water that has been distilled or put through a reverse osmosis device. In addition, adding Quintessential marine plasma will help to re-mineralize the water.

Simple home remedies that only costs pennies

For a sore throat, dilute one-half lemon juice with water and gargle often throughout the day. A slice of lemon bound over a pus formation – on a joint – will bring everything to the surface and be removed. And, for asthma patients, a tablespoon of lemon juice – one hour before eating will greatly assist in digestion and help to reduce your symptoms. It’s always a good idea to try lemon juice and water (first thing) when you wake up in the morning – on an empty stomach.

Choosing the “right” lemon – how to make a smart buying decision

There is a way to know the mineral content of a lemon before you buy it. By picking one that has a high specific gravity measurement, in plain terms one that is heavy for its size. All the lemons may be equal-sized but the one with the greatest weight will have the most minerals and be the sweetest. A thick skinned lemon will not be as heavy as a thin skinned lemon and not have the desired sweetness due to less sugar content.

To help your body get the energy from the food you are eating, drinking lemon water is a wonderful idea. If you’re new at all this – simply start with a teaspoon or two (mixed in water) and increase the dosage (as desired) on a weekly basis. Remember, a little lemon in your life can be a sweet solution for better health. Post your comments or experience – below.

My dentist tells me that drinking lemon water daily will eat away the enamel on my teeth. So I stopped doing it. Is there a way to protect my teeth while getting these benefits?

Also, will organic bottled lemon juice work just as well – or only fresh? If fresh are we talking 1/2 a lemon a day, or what?

    Thanks!

  • Laurie

Can you use “Real Lemon” concentrate juice in the bottle instead of real squeezed lemon.

  • Rina von Oppenheimer

Ladies…. NO!!!! They are talking about fresh lemons, fresh squeezed. Once you juice a fruit, it’s vitamins and nutrition dissipates. The longer it sits (and I mean hours) it loses it’s vitamins. Besides, nothing tastes better than the true, fresh fruit. Nothing is better that the fresh fruit and vegetables for that matter. If you are trying to lose weight, saute some vegetables lightly and just pour some fresh lemon juice over it….. delicious! A baked potato, instead of butter, lemon juice…. delicious! Take a fresh (preferably organic) lemon, place it unpeeled in the freezer. Then, when frozen, grate it (with peel and all) over your meats, fish and veggies. The lemon you did not use, wrap and place back in the freezer for the next time.
    Enjoy

Linda, just drink the lemon water right before you brush your teeth… no problem.

This is great information Blanche…. it is a great purifier and with all the toxins around us, its nice to know something as simple as an organic lemon can help us rid some of these toxins from our bodies & even help wounds heal like you mentioned.

Can we visually spot an organic lemon or do we ask the merchandizer to point one out to us? Sure, just take the word of the produce guy at the market. The only way you could be certain is to grow it yourself or know someone who is an “organic” zelot who grows lemons. You’d have to trust him, though.

The lemon juice can temporarily soften enamel, so it’s best to wait an hour before brushing one’s teeth. Just rinse with water afterwards to dilute/remove the acid from the teeth.

Dear Blanch — your article is very informative
I am a Ayurvedic practitioner as u are aware that Ayurveda is a science of life based on three principles vata, pitta and kapha.

Lemon is sour benefits to remove vata, it is light and increases digestive fire. It removes germs, stomachache, improves appetite, and is very beneficial in case of vata, pitta, kapha and pain.
Contraindicates —in someone who has peptic ulcer they have to be careful.

    Namaste

OMG I became acquainted with the goodness of the lemon by a brasilian site “www.docelimao.com.br” run by a Quimist, Dr Conceição Trucom. She advocated the lemon therapy for 19 days, starting with one, and each day increasing another one, until day 10, ten lemons, then reversing the process to day 19, where we would end up with one lemon… she is the most amazing ambassador or the lemon, and the most enthusiast and advocate of the humble fruit… I started the therapy straigh away, but 5 days though, I would squeeze the lemons first thing in the morning and drink it, taking breakfast half an hour later. It took me a couple of weeks to get read of a nasty yeast infection that was bothering me for two years, and my Doctor would keep on prescribing “Fluconazol”, which never worked… a couple of weeks, that´s all it took to the humble lemon to get read of that infection… I went back to the doctor and gave one to her as a souvenir. Since then, lemon juice is my best allie in supporting health. I must admit, I make an effort to drink it, but I do it everyday and everywhere I can use it, be it in salads, fish, juices… anywhere I could use it I just go for it… because it is worth it!!! LOVE LEMONS… thanks for the “late” article on lemons… people just don´t know its full potential, and I´m surprised you not mentioning it more in your articles, since I am one or your regular readers!!! Best Regards ;)

I have had acid reflux for several years that was a result of LOW STOMACH acid ( not too much – that’s why all the prescripstions, Nexim etc made my symptoms worse). I tried all the prescriptions, HCL supplements along with enzymes, apple cider vinegar.

One day in prayer, I kept getting – drink warm lemon water. Well, over the last two weeks I started taking pure lemon juice from lemons in as little water as I could stand it before every meal as well as afterwards to give me body the acid it needed to digest the meal.
After the first day, my bowels were working so well – I mean I was having sometimes 2 bowel movements a day – and normally I was constipated and the food just sitting in my stomach.

I couldn’t believe it!!!!! after several months of taking hcl supplements and still being constipated 99% of the time to one day of lemon juice and my bowels working as they did years and years aga!!

Today ( 2/3/13) makes two weeks of taking the pure juice ( I sometimes juice 3 lemons) in as little water as possible and I feel so much better.

The major symptom I was having as a result of the acid reflux which was caused by the lack of stomach acid, was really bad breath that wouldn’t go away no matter what I did or what I used expensive or not expensive.

I am not sure if the lemon juice has helped but I am sure it will over time help with the tearing down of the buildup of bad bacteria in my gut from low stomach acid.

I haven’t been able to really date for the past 6 years due to the bad breath, so I am excited to see if over time the lemon juice helps with this also. I plan to take pure lemon juice in as little water before and after every meal for the rest of my life due to the excellent digestive results I’ve had in so little time!!!!
