(NaturalHealth365) With the anthem, “It’s time to take our food back!” activists worldwide will hit the streets May 25 to March Against Monsanto. Inspired to spearhead this global movement to protect her two daughters, lead organizer and creator Tami Monroe Canal says, “I feel Monsanto threatens their generation’s health, fertility and longevity. I couldn’t sit by idly, waiting for someone else to do something.”
The purpose of the march is several-fold:
• To label Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) foods.
• Repeal provisions of the Obama sanctioned “Monsanto Protection Act.”
• Call for scientists to sincerely and honestly research the health implications of GMOs.
• Hold politicians supporting Monsanto accountable via grassroots journalism, direct and social media.
• Inform the world about Monsanto’s secrets.
Truth is, no one really knows what GMOs do to our body. Being much too new on the market, longitudinal studies have never been conducted on the deleterious effects of tampering with creation’s design in our food supply. Prevalence of various cancers, autism, allergies, and a slew of other diseases have recently rocked the nation. Many fingers are pointing to GMOs and lead GMO-producer Monsanto as the culprits.
It is believed that the first commercially grown genetically modified food crop was the tomato in the early 1990s. It was genetically altered by the California company FlavrSavr to prolong decomposition after being picked. Just 23 years later most our tomatoes, papaya, potatoes, cow’s milk, cotton, rice, wheat, corn, and soy are genetically modified. It has even been reported that over 70 percent of American processed foods are made from GMOs. Today, Monsanto is the key player in the GMO market and the financial mastermind who controls the politics behind America’s food supply
To name just a few, countries like Peru, New Zealand and the entire EU have banned GMOs. For reasons centered on political greed and corruption, the U.S. refuses to take such a stand. The purpose of the march this Sat, therefore, is to create public awareness that will hopefully soon lead to reform.
The Super Hero is in YOU!
Near the end of the blockbuster hit The Avengers, when insurmountable defeat seemed inevitable, the indomitable villain Loki pompously asserted his victory over planet earth to Iron Man Tony Stark. In reply, Stark looked his evil foe straight in the eyes and said resolutely…
”You’re missing the point! There’s no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it’s too much for us but it’s all on you. Because if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we’ll avenge it!”
In an almost surreal exposition of lies, deceit and malicious attacks against our freedom, Monsanto has postured itself as an evil Super Villain about to control the world’s food supply. With the determination that the Avengers had to defeat Loki, we must not let Monsanto take over.
We must protest to know the truth about our food and for the freedom to choose which foods we want to buy. We must boycott their products. We must continue to educate the public.
We must march. And it all starts with you!
