The benefits of apple cider vinegar

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Apple Cider Vinegar(NaturalHealth365) We all know the benefits of apple cider vinegar include weight loss; better skin tone, detoxification plus much more. If you haven’t tried this old-fashion remedy for better health – get ready for a pleasant surprise.

Diabetics can dramatically improve blood sugar levels – naturally

In a study printed in the American Diabetes Foundation’s publication, Diabetes Care – it stated that taking vinegar before meals drastically increase insulin sensitivity and reduced the insulin and glucose spikes, which occur after meals.

The study showed that healthy people along with pre-diabetics and those with type-2 diabetes all benefited from taking apple cider vinegar. All three groups had better blood glucose readings.

Another study, cited by WebMD, found that people with adult onset diabetes, who took two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar – before bed time – lowered their morning glucose levels by 4 to 6 percent. By the way, follow up studies looking at the long term effects found that moderate weight loss was part of the package.

A natural way to improve your mineral absorption

One of the other benefits for diabetics is the high acetic acid in apple cider vinegar has been shown to increase the body’s absorption of minerals in the foods that they ate. Type-2 diabetes is reversible – if the body’s balance of essential minerals is restored; diabetes is complicated by mineral deficiencies.

Popular weight loss programs often miss the “big picture” and profit from their poorly educated customer base.

Since obesity is a national problem, it is incredible that you can use an inexpensive natural product to help you see measurable results. There are studies, one published in Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, which found that people who consumed ascetic acid daily for 12 weeks decreased their weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference and triglycerides.

In another study using mice, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, acetic acid seemed to prevent the buildup of body and liver fat.

A great apple cider home remedy for everyone

Apple cider vinegar has proven helpful for many everyday problems, including dandruff, acne and acid reflux – better known as heartburn. These are conditions which prescription drugs have proven to be nearly ineffective and, most certainly, extremely toxic for human consumption. Fortunately, there is a better way to care for yourself.

An apple cider vinegar solution can restore the pH balance of the scalp and discourage the growth of yeast-like fungus – which is thought to trigger dandruff and many other health-related problems.

This is one of the easiest way to tame dandruff, all you need to do is mix ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar with a ¼ cup of water – pour it into a spray bottle and spay it on the scalp, avoiding the eye and ears. A towel is wrapped around the area and left on anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour and then washed off, this is done once or twice a week.

Clear up your skin – naturally

For acne, it is recommended that you dilute it more by using one part apple cider vinegar with at least three parts water. The solution is then dabbed onto the pimples. People with acne have a delicate terrain on the skin, so it is important to never use apple cider vinegar full strength.

Could it be time to throw away the “purple pill” for stomach trouble?

Apple cider vinegar helps eliminate acid reflux by providing an acid base to tighten the esophageal muscle weakened by eating too many processed foods. Acid reflux is thought of as a low acid condition – not an overly acidic one; it also helps break down fats and promotes digestion, which helps keep heartburn at bay.

The real benefit of apple cider vinegar is it is a natural bacteria fighting agent, which contains many minerals and trace elements including potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, chlorine, sodium, sulfur, copper, iron and silicon – all essential for optimal health. This is really good news!!! I am so glad that a somewhat conventional (therefore, more “credible”) association as the American Diabetes Foundation has come out with info like this!
I take ACV in a glass of water every morning. That, along with other healthy habits I am establishing, keeps me from ever “catching” colds or flu. Neither my husband nor I have had anything like that for decades!
Oh, and we put Apple Cider Vinegar in our Free-range chicken’s water every day to keep them healthy!

  • Prea

Love this article on an old standby…great job!!

  • edward

They say your ph should be on the alkaline side aspecially for cancer patients.Taking applecider its the opposite and it increases your acidic of the body Which way now??

  • barb

It’s the ONLY vinegar we use (ON our pets, too).

Love the bottled drinks – ginger spice is the best, imo.

I make my own too, but I cannot get the ginger amount correct. Either burns or cannot even taste it.

Drink these instead of “energy” drinks/sodas/ etc.

Get rid of cable tv channels and the money will be better spent on healthy diet changes. Just my opinion. 🙂

Edward, read up on ACV. It becomes alkaline in your body.

  • Ania

I started using ACV solution to treat my acne about 3 weeks ago and it works great. My skin cleared, and I eliminated almost all conventional acne treatments that I was using for years. Not only the acne went away, but my skin became more even and smooth. Amazing how this natural cheap product, works so much better than expensive fancy creams/toners, etc.

I would like to try to take some internally. However, I am worried about my sensitive teeth and stomach (I have gastritis). I know that ACV is converted from acidic to alkaline substance inside the body, but I am still worried that it can damage my stomach before it happens.

I have been drinking ACV and honey every day for some years now to ward off attacks of arthritis, and it works. I first came across this idea years ago by reading the book by Dr. D.C. Jarvis on this subject. Of course it has to be raw, unfiltered, organic, with the mother.
Thanks for making it possible to add a comment without Facebook, of which I am NOT a subscriber. I wish NaturalNews would do the same.

The most important thing hasn’t been mentioned, not once, and that’s the fact that the vinegar MUST be raw and unfiltered, with “mother.” Pasteurized and filtered vinegars will not do much good, and in fact feed candida (yeast). A glaring omission !!

  • Nance

My husband and I love raw apple cidar vinegar. Here lately we have had a problem locating where to buy it. We were buying it from Whole Foods market, but it seems they can’t get it anymore.

I do not know where we can find it. We live in central Oregon.

    Any suggestion?

  • Julie

Nance, you can order apple cider vinegar direct from Bragg Live Food Products. They have the genuine raw, organic unfiltered vinegar with the mother, as well as many other health-building products and books. Their web address is:

    Hope this helps.

You can get it online from Amazon or GNC Braggs is a good brand that you can get at both stores either online or in person
Also you can go to Trader Joes as well and they have their own brand

Bragg’s Raw Apple Cider Vinegar can be ordered online, I think. You should be able to find it at any health food store. It’s the best !!

  • Dan

You can get Braggs ACV at Fred Meyers, New Seasons, and I love shopping online at Green Polka Dot Box.

How MUCH ACV do you have to take before meals to get the lower blood sugar? Plain ACV is rough. can it be diluted in water?

I have been taking ACV for 8 years, taking 2 tsp and honey in a glass of water in the morning before breakfast and before the evening meal. I started out with 2 Tbsp., but I got heartburn, so I cut down 2x a day 2 tsp. (always listen to your body) It is much better now, and the benefits are awsome. My arthritis is hardly bothering me at all anymore! My mother took AVC all her life, she lived to 91 and I don’t remember her ever being seriously ill! Without prescription drugs and doctors!

I used to live on TUMS, Rolaids, pepcid, Zantac, you name it. I had heartburn so bad I was carful to always have a supply of each in my car, at my work, and at home as well as more in my briefcase. Then I discoveredd ACV. After the first treatment, I noticed that that heartburn did not come back as fast. with continued dosage, the intervals between episodes of heartburn got further and further apart to where it was days then weeks between episodes of heartburn. Now days, I eat what I want, when I want and if I want. I still get an occasional bout of HB (about 1 or 2 times per yr) but I just take a dose of ACV and that takes care of it. I am a great fan of Bragg’s ACV but found that natures Bounty ACV pills worked just as well and were easier to take. Other pill forms of ACV seemd “harsher” for whatever reason. But Bragg’s is really the best due to it’s many different possible applications.

I use a splash of raw ACV in every drink of water. This helps to keep it in my system if I forget to take it before meals. It also keeps germs away from water bottles. I use it as a hair rinse also. Thanks for more input, I’m always searching for a cure.

I have used ACV for years for leg cramps. Sometimes I get extremely painful leg cramps and taking a few swigs of vinegar in a little water will take cramps away almost immediately. Also I give my chickens ACV in their water for years and I haven’t lost any chickens. I read it’s like an antibiotic for the hens.
