Living Off The Grid Solutions(NaturalHealth365) In 2006, Home Power magazine estimated that more than 180,000 United States homes were supplying their own power. As electric, gas, water and telephone expenses continue to rise – living “off-grid” is fast becoming an attractive alternative for those looking to be earth-friendly and free of fossil fuel dependency. But, before you ditch your utility company, there are a few things you must know.

Is wireless technology making you sick? On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Jerry Day, consumer rights advocate talk about the dangers of wireless technology – including smart meters – the ‘new’ way electric companies want to power the world; off-grid technologies plus much more about renewable, sustainable living.

5 things you must know about living off the grid

Before you walk away from the conveniences of modern living – you’ve got to check in with your mindset. Are you looking to power expensive appliances? Do you want to grow your own food? How will you generate a water supply and remove waste? Your answer to these questions will determine your willingness to work, sacrifice and spend time or money.

Where will you live? Before you make that land purchase – you must check with local authorities about existing building codes and regulations. If you’re buying land in a remote location – be sure you have legal access to all needed roadways or water supplies.

How will you power your home? Obviously, if you have lots of trees – around the home – wind power may not work. To generate solar power – you must have good southern exposure on a fairly consistent basis. Remember, location is everything.

Where do you get your water supply? With so many options – this is a very important decision. You may have natural spring water on the property or you may have to drill a well. Even if you’re collecting rain water – be sure to regularly test your water for safety.

Finally, what will you do with your waste? Keep in mind, the Environmental Protection Agency requires safe waste removal. Septic tanks, open-air lagoon pits and composting toilets all have their on-going maintenance issues.

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Jerry Day answer many of the most popular questions asked, on our last show, about ‘smart’ (utility) meters; a warning about turnkey solar systems plus many other off-grid concerns and solutions.

Wireless technology increases the demand for off-grid living

Since the 1930’s, scientists have been warning the public about the health risks of electromagnetic frequency (EMF) pollution. In truth, there are thousands of scientific reports pointing to the ill effects of radiofrequency (microwave) radiation. Headaches, dizziness, ADHD, cardiorespiratory problems plus many forms of cancer have all been directly associated with an overexposure to dirty electricity, cell phones, cordless phones, and wi-fi hot spots – especially around schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

In fact, some people have gotten so ill that they move to the United States National Radio Quiet Zone, located in Green Bank, West Virginia. More and more people are getting fed up with the chronic stresses associated with ‘modern’ living – which makes living off the grid even more appealing. If you’re suffering with unexplainable health problems – our next show may provide tremendous relief.

This week’s guest: Jerry Day, Emmy-winning television producer and consumer rights advocate

Discover the pros and cons of living off the grid; wireless warnings + much more – Sun. May 4

Jerry Day is an Emmy-winning television producer and has produced a series of youtube videos on digital utility metering. Those videos have gone viral to over two million views. Jerry Day has been in the forefront of the digital metering opposition movement by offering legal documents – free to the public – to put the power company on notice about their legal violations, and by offering analog electric meters in special meter replacement kits.

Those kits have been purchased by hundreds of utility customers who wish to remedy the unsafe and unlawful metering of their power companies. Apart from youtube videos and support people (worldwide) with their smart meter issues, Jerry is fast becoming an expert in ‘off grid’ technology by developing his own home – completely off the grid.

Discover the benefits of sustainable living. Although living off the grid has its challenges – reducing your dependency on fossil fuel and modern (wireless) devices can have a deeply profound effect on your health. On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Jerry Day talk about the pros and cons of living off the grid plus much more. Join us for a highly-informative program.

The Power of the Sun

Question – how big is the sun? Did you know that the sun is the largest mass in our solar system? In fact, if the sun was hollow, it would take 333,000 earth size objects to fill the inside. That’s big!

Without the sun – life would not exist. Many experts estimate that the sun is 4 and a half billion years old. So when will it “burn out”? Many experts guess another 5 billon years! Better tell our children – huh?

By the way, for you chemistry majors, the Sun is made out of 92% hydrogen, 7% helium and additional low number gasses. The core is the hottest part of its matter at 27 billion degrees Fahrenheit and may very well be our most important energy source of the future.

The Benefits of Solar Power

Clearly, solar power is a more reasonable energy resource. To depend on conventional public utilities and its use of fossil fuels, animal matter, or plant matter is expensive. Common sense tells us there has to be a better way.

The good news is that solar power is renewable! In other words, using it does NOT deplete its reserves. In addition, solar energy usage is non-polluting and free. And, unlike oil, solar power usage does not emit any greenhouse gases, or increase the risk of an ecosystem disaster – can anyone say “BP oil spill”?
