(NaturalHealth365) Seaweed treatments have been established in the spa market for decades now; but the real benefits for their importance in health and beauty are often overlooked. Below I discuss some of the key reasons you can no longer ignore seaweed therapies both at the spa as well as in your own home.

“Man turns to the ocean to discover his past; what he will discover is his future.”
Jean Cocteau

How ocean nutrients can provide beautiful skin and vibrant health

For many years now our laboratory has developed anti-aging skin care facials based on the restorative and antioxidant properties of marine algae. This includes all marine algae from microscopic plankton to the giant bullwhip kelp that grows to an astounding 180 feet in length off the California coast. These marine plants thrive in the nutrient rich ocean once described as the “soup of life” by science author Isaac Asimov. They deliver the building blocks of life – minerals and trace elements directly to the basal cell layer of the skin. Copper, Zinc, Manganese, Phosphorous, Magnesium are all vital to the synthesis of collagen and fibronectin fibers. These elements are essential in building up the connective support matrix of the skin increasing skin firmness and tone.

These remarkable marine plants are also rich in a vast array of antioxidants to protect the cell against environmental aggressors such as ultra-violet radiation, pollution, smoking and deficient nutrition. Among the most powerful antioxidants are a range of polyphenols, carotenoids, asthaxanthin, lutein, lycopene, vitamins E and C plus many more. Added to this are marine ions such as selenium that neutralize free radicals. The carotenoids and polyphenols also absorb ultra violet rays to help deflect the damaging effects of the sun.

Prevent inflammation by nourishing your skin – naturally

If you are looking for skin firming, then you can appreciate rejuvenating polysaccharides that are found in marine algae. L-fucose is the most prominent of these polysaccharides and studies conducted by the Pierre et Marie Curie School of Medicine in Paris have shown their efficacy. They are also anti-inflammatory and provide super moisturization to the skin. (There are other properties of polysaccharides when taken internally such as reducing serum cholesterol, anti-tumor properties, thinning blood, etc.)

Some algae such as Dictyopteris, Pancratium and Undaria (wakame) are providing us with skin brightening properties without the cytotoxic side-effects of hydroquinone. These are found in our luminous program.

These are but a few of the compelling reasons to turn to marine algae for skin rejuvenation. Yet the majority of interest in seaweed revolves around body care; specifically body toning, detoxification and cellulite reduction.

The best skin therapies for detoxification

Most spas that we have been working with began with seaweed body wraps as the preferred slimming and detox treatment. (In the case of those spas with hydrotherapy tubs, this applies to them as well) Much of the popularity of this treatment can be attributed to the belief that these will reduce the appearance of cellulite. In part this is true. Seaweed contains a number of active ingredients responsible for slimming and evacuation of lymph. Iodine is the first ingredient that comes to mind. This trace element is responsible for boosting metabolism of fats among many including regulation of estrogen levels.

Additionally, brown algae such as Laminaria and Fucus contain a pigment called fucoxanthin which is also a big contributor to increasing metabolism of fat. Laminaran which is a polysaccharide found in brown algae improves circulation which is abundantly evident following every body treatment. The appearance of the skin is smoother, and the skin’s color shows a radiant even tone enhancing the overall appearance of the legs. Lastly, the high levels of magnesium and calcium help to reduce the retention of excess fluids responsible for bloat, swelling ankles and the exacerbation of cellulite.

Seaweed therapies proven to help prevent chronic diseases

Yet there are more compelling reasons for turning to seaweed body wraps that most spa therapists are not necessarily aware of. That is their ability to help prevent the onset of certain degenerative diseases. This brings us back to the iodine content of brown algae. Iodine as everyone knows is responsible for the proper function of the thyroid gland.

The thyroid gland regulates metabolism and supports the immune functions of the body. Yet is does more. According to researchers at UCLA, iodine regulates estrogen levels helping to maintain proper hormonal balance. This element’s ability goes directly to preventing the onset of cysts in the breasts and uterus. Further these studies suggest that iodine from seaweed is the key element responsible for the low incidence of breast and uterine cancers among Asians who consume large quantities of iodine-rich seaweed.

All of these elements—iodine, magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc, etc., have been shown to cross the skin’s corneal barrier and enter the body. Clinical studies conducted by University of Rennes in France (and later replicated by the University of Bordeaux), demonstrated conclusively that micro-elements penetrate the skin due to their infinitesimally small size and also due to their ionization that facilitate their passage.

Restore your sense of healthy balance with ocean minerals

All told, marine algae are a storehouse of the nutritive and healing powers of the ocean. Their organic chemistry assures that the body is receiving the most perfectly balanced concentrate of the elements of the sea making them bio-available to the body as well as bio-compatible.

Thankfully, marine algae offer the spa therapist a wide menu of potential services. From anti-aging skin care and rosacea treatments to seaweed slimming and detox treatments; hydrotherapy baths and body scrubs are also popular using the elements of the sea. There are also skin brightening elements found in brown algae such as Wakame and skin plumping properties (lips and breasts) in Dictyopteris algae.

Naturally, we turn to the ocean around us to restore, replenish and purify the ocean that is within all of us. We invite the healing ocean into our bodies to improve our quality of life and build our resistance against environmental aging aggressors and provide us with a Marine Eco-Protective Shield. The by-products of the ocean’s care: radiant skin, firm, toned bodies; energy boost and a better quality of life.

Exciting news about how antioxidants prevent disease

September 24, 2012 by
Filed under Food News, Natural Healing

(NaturalHealth365) By now, it is no surprise (to most people) that fruits and vegetables possess powerful antioxidants. What may surprise you is how essential they are for a healthy mind and body. Fruits and vegetables are more than a “pick-me-up” – they re-energize your whole body. Everything from the common cold to more serious infectious diseases are known to respond to the right nutrition.

Heart news that will make everyone happy

According to a study in the American Journal of Medicine, a diet rich in antioxidants, can greatly reduce the risk of heart attack in women. The study followed 32,561 Swedish women between the ages of 49 and 83 from September 1997 through December 2007. Participants filled out a food-frequency questionnaire, during which they were asked on average how often they consumed each type of food or beverage during the past year.

Researchers calculated an approximation of total antioxidant capacity from a database that measures the oxygen radical absorption capacity (ORAC) of the most common foods in the United States. The women were divided into five separate groups based on total antioxidants in their diet.

Throughout the study, 1,114 women suffered a heart attack. Women with the highest total antioxidant rate had a 20 percent lower risk than the women who had the least total antioxidant rate. The group with the lowest risk – consumed three times as many fruits and vegetables, about 7 servings per day, compared with the others who had only 2-4 servings.

Even better news for cancer patients

There have been several studies that suggest flooding your body with super nutritional fruits and vegetables yield not only an energetic body and sharp mind, but slow the aging process and protect from and reverse cancerous growths. Evidence points to the fact that antioxidants can reduce cancer risk. In an epidemiologic review of many studies, which examined the relationship between fruit and vegetable intake and cancers of the lung, colon, breast, cervix, esophagus, oral cavity, stomach, bladder, pancreas and ovary – the consumption of fruit and vegetables were found to have a significant (positive) effect.

In the early 1990′s, researchers examined well over one hundred epidemiological studies related diet to cancer, and in 128 to 156 dietary studies, fruits and vegetables had a significant protective effect against a variety of cancers. The risk of cancers, for most sites, were found to be twice as high in persons whose intake of fruits and vegetables was low.

A recent study linked fruit and vegetables with a reduced risk of breast cancer in women living in China. In this population based, case-controlled study of women in Shanghai, pre-menopausal women who ate more dark yellow-orange vegetables and more citrus fruits had a lower risk of breast cancer.

A NEW way of looking at apples and onions

Studies show that antioxidants in apples and onions protect against lung cancer in both males and females. They found that there was a 40-50 percent decreased risk in lung cancer in participants with the highest intake of apples, onions and white grape fruits – compared to those who consumed the lowest amount. This was seen across all ethnic lines.

By the way, this was a very well controlled study, which looked at smoking history along with food intake.

In a Finnish study, involving 10,000 men and women and 24-year follow-up the same trend was seen with the same fruit (apple) and vegetable (onion).

Finding the fountain of youth is easier than you think

Several studies show that the combination of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory polyphenolic compounds found in fruits and vegetables may be the anti-aging tonic we are looking for. The beneficial properties of plants help promote natural anti-aging processes in the body by assisting with collagen production and tissue regeneration. The active compounds in fruits and vegetables accelerate healing and are known for their ability to regenerate all body functions. Never underestimate the power of food and a healthy diet.

A miracle oil – unknown by most people

June 23, 2012 by
Filed under Natural Healing, Nutrition News

(NaturalHealth365) If you don’t know about argan oil you should, it is considered a miracle ingredient for good reason. Argan oil is extracted from the nuts of the argan tree, which is native to the southwestern parts of Morocco.

The tree is well adapted to drought and environmentally harsh conditions. Actually, the oil is pulled from the kernels of the tree and is valued for its enormous medicinal properties.

Is this the most valuable oil on the planet?

It is also called Moroccan Oil and comes from a species of tree that has existed from the Tertiary Age (65 million to 1.8 million years ago). This tree once covering most parts of North Africa, and now is considered an endangered species – under the protection of UNESCO.

The argan tree grows to a height of 8 to 10 meters and can survive for 200 years. The resulting fruits take more than a year to mature, and the enclosed hard nut contains one small oil-rich seed, and because of its limited and very specific growing areas the total perennial yield of the oil is quite low. It takes at least eight argan trees to produce (1) liter of oil.

The health benefits of extracted argan oil

In parts of Morocco, this oil replaces the olive as a source of both nourishment and for topical application. The kernels will keep for 20 years when unopened and can be stored and used as needed by any family.

The oil from unroasted seeds is used as a treatment for skin disease in some parts of the the world. Argan oil has sparked a whole lot of interest among cosmetic manufacturers and from the food industry. The special composition of argan oil is what enables it to be considered one of the healthiest oils on earth.

Boost your immune system, brain function plus much more

Argan oil may be more resistant to oxidation than olive oil and is made up of 80% fatty acids. Essential fatty acids cannot be synthesized by humans and must be obtained through diet. The special composition of argan oil which consists of unsaturated fats, sterols, vitamin E and omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids make it one of the most potent plants for both health and beauty.

The oleic acid content makes it effective at lowering cholesterol, the prostaglandins formed in the body after the consumption of the oil improves circulation, boost immunity, and suppresses inflammation.

The vitamin E acts as a powerful antioxidant by neutralizing oxidative stress. The linoleic acid helps with rheumatologic conditions and vascular problems. In fact, argan oil is a laboratory in itself and provides valuable resources to combat cell damage, early signs of aging and has anti-neoplastic (anti-cancer) properties. In addition, a 2004 study found that rats fed a diet containing argan oil had significantly lower blood pressure than the placebo group.

The power of nature helps us age gracefully

The anti-free radical activities come from the vitamin E, squalene, essential fatty acids, and carotenoids. Squalene is nutrient-rich antioxidant oil with the ability to anchor itself to cell membranes, and is involved in cell growth and development as it is a precursor of cholesterol, vitamin D, and all the steroid hormones in the body.

Naturally, the cosmetic industry is always interested in offering products that help regenerate the skin. It has been scientifically proven that argan oil renews the skin architecture and speeds up micro circulation to help delay the physiological aging process

It penetrates deeply and faster that most other oils. The skins own moisturizer is 25% squalene. This is a natural bactericide, andtioxidant, and has been effective in the treatment of dermatitis and skin cancer. Ferulic acid is the most abundant phenolic compound in argan oil, which prevents damage caused by ultraviolet light.

First pressed argan oil contains 3,100 mg/kg squalene, which is a much higher quantity than within olive oil. Argan oils ability to redefine the body and minimizing aging makes it the newest means to stay healthy – all the years of your life.

Onions help us age gracefully

(NaturalHealth365) Phytochemicals are what makes onions a world class anti-aging vegetable. The anti-aging benefits of onions are enormous, and are one of the best keep secrets in nutrition. Remember, the more pungent the onion – the more antioxidant power. The sulfur-rich phytochemicals are what gives onions their odor and their anti-aging benefits.

The beauty of onions

Studies have shown that onions are one of the richest sources of quercetin, one of the most powerful antioxidants and one of the best nutrients to keep you wrinkle free. The vitamins and the sulfur from onions protect the skin while keeping it supple and smooth.

The best comparison would be to look at two apple slices and notice that if you add some lemon juice to one it stays crisp, and the other one becomes brown and shriveled from exposure to oxygen through a process known as oxidation. This is what happens to our skin and other organs when they don’t get the needed antioxidants. While lemons do have some anti-aging benefits which are similar to onions, humans need a variety of vegetables for optimal results.

Improve the quality of your hair

Did you know that a full head of hair is a sign of youth? Onion juice is considered to be a natural remedy for stimulating hair growth when applied topically. Studies are now being done to look further into onions ability to stop hair loss.

Apparently, the sulfur-rich phytochemicals are what makes onions the premier anti-aging tool. Onions may not be the sweetest smelling vegetable, but they will preserve a youthful look. In addition, the vitamin C that onions provide also helps protects the skin keeping it supple and smooth.

Hopeful news for baby boomers

Onions are under-rated as a source for beta-carotene, potassium, cystein, fiber, calcium, and folate. In fact, the total polyphenol content of onions is higher than garlic, leaks, tomatoes, carrots and red bell pepper. Now for the delicious news.

When onions are simmered to make soup, their quercetin does not get degraded; it winds up in the soup liquid. Onions have the least pesticides of most vegetables, so if you need to use the conventional grown onions you still will be getting some healthy nutrients.

So to improve your skin tone – try some sweet and pungent flavors in your salads, stews, soups and side dishes. It’s time for us to adapt a new anti-aging strategy – one that enhances vitality and delivers nourishment to the skin and rejuvenates the hair.

Let’s face it: topical treatments may improve appearance but will not overcome the issues that allowed the wrinkles to form. We may be able to beautify the world (one onion at a time) by making it known that eating organic vegetables is a wise choice!

Colostrum reverses aging

March 13, 2012 by
Filed under Natural Healing, Nutrition News

(NaturalHealth365) Colostrum is life’s first food for infants; it’s produced by the mother’s mammary glands during the first 24-48 hours after giving birth. This is a non-milk fluid, which contains powerful immune enhancers and growth factors for the healthy growth of the baby.

Colostrum may be the ultimate ant-aging supplement according to the newest research, which reveals how colostrum prevents wrinkles, increases fat metabolism, improves memory, elevates mood, and builds lean muscle mass.

Bovine Colostrum Advantages

Bovine colostrum from pasture-fed cows contain immunoglobulins specific to many human pathogens. Before the development of antibiotics, colostrum was used as a way to fight infections. Albert Sabin made the first oral vaccine against polio, from the immunoglobulin taken from bovine colostrum.

Right after puberty and in cases of illness these immune factors decline and only colostrum has been shown to work on replacing the supply. Bovine colostrum from dairy cows has been shown to not only be safe for humans, but is transferable to humans.

The research discoveries point to fact that this may be the fountain of youth, with the lure of radiant skin, firm muscles, a lean body, and the appeal of looking ageless, this supplement may be the face of the future.

Staying Young

Bovine colostrum is rich in powerful growth factors such as; insulin like growth factor, transforming growth factor (TGF) and epithelial growth factor (EGF). These are considered the natural growth factors which when plentiful slow down the aging on a cellular lever, and when deficient accelerate the aging process.

Colostrum has been shown to have a cumulative effect, the longer it is used the more regeneration and rebuilding that occurs. In many studies the reason for abdominal weight, lower immunity, loss of muscle, and wrinkles are the declining levels of growth hormones.

Planning for longevity means more than anything staying healthy, and avoiding the common conditions associated with aging such as lower immunity to viruses and disease, compromised organ function and decreased vitality.

Americans tend to think of longevity as something, which can be aided by pharmaceuticals, implants, cosmetic surgery, joint replacement and cardiac procedures. Longevity isn’t something you can outsource.

Stem Cells strongest link to longevity

Scientists have found that the growth factors in colostrum help activate stem cells, which are the key to the regeneration process. Colostrum has been shown to rebuild heart muscle, lung tissue, and cartilage and regenerate the thymus gland. Restoring the thymus gland to its youthful appearance is one of the keys to immunity.

Colostrum processes the natural longevity partners. These include immunoglobulin, which are antibodies that can neutralize toxins and microbes in the lymph and circulatory systems.

Lactoferrin is another powerful antiviral and antibacterial substance in bovine and human colostrum, which boosts T-cell activity and is responsible for cell to cell communications.

A study published in “Clinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis” found that oral colostrum is a preventive agent against the flu. The study concluded that colostrum supplementation was three times more effective for flu prevention than vaccination.

Healing miracles sometimes are just simply the results of the right products at the right times.

Resveratrol supports a long healthy life

February 21, 2012 by
Filed under Natural Healing, Nutrition News

(NaturalHealth365) In recent years, resveratrol has been the focus of scientific scrutiny. This antioxidant is one of about 8,000 plant based compounds known as polyphenols. Plants evolved resveratrol to defend against stress, infection and the harsh damaging effects of being exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

It is the interaction of oxygen and sunlight that generates free radicals, which gradually dehydrate and break down a plant’s skin. Resveratrol neutralizes harmful free radical activity. This is what makes it so valuable to humans. Topically applied to the skin it eliminates free radicals with 95% efficiency, while vitamin E achieves 65% and vitamin C comes in at 37% efficiency.

Resveratrol is a targeted anti-inflammatory, which provides the body with anti-aging benefits. Polyphenols are nature’s answer to aging gracefully. Topically applied resveratrol protects against not only UVA damage, but also abnormal cellular proliferation. Topical resveratrol combats skin aging by also stimulating healthy cell proliferation and collagen health.

A miracle created by nature

Resveratrol is found in the skins of red fruits, red wine, grapes, peanuts, and berries like mulberries, various herbs, and propolis a honey bee product. It is used to prevent heart disease, and for cancer prevention. The real claim to fame is its ability as an anti-inflammatory with anti-infection capabilities.

Eating plenty of fruit and vegetables can greatly improve your health and appearance. Antioxidants (like Resveratrol) are known to improve the functioning of the estrogen hormone. Estrogen is what keeps women healthy and strong.

A way to turn back the hands of time

Resveratrol has lots of anti-aging benefits – due to its ability to activate a class of longevity genes in the body known as sirtuins. Sirtuins reduce cellular aging and impart to the cells the ability to repair. Many health experts agree that a diet rich in antioxidants will slow down cellular aging; inhibit abnormal cell growth and help to repair damaged cell structure.

Research has shown that the signs of aging can be reversed. In fact, many studies have shown that consuming antioxidants and maintaining a low calorie intake can take the stress out of your life. Generally speaking, a diet dense in nutritional value and low in calories will improve circulation; lower blood pressure; and improve glucose levels.

When tested in randomized double-blind study for 30 days – Resveratrol reduced sleeping and resting metabolic rate in humans. Best of all, antioxidants are known to decrease triglycerides (blood fats) and systemic inflammation. These are just a few of the good reasons to enjoy your red grapes, mulberries, blueberries and cocoa powder – organic, of course!

(NaturalHealth365) Shea butter is the fatty extract from the seed of the shea nut. Shea butter contains ingredients with biological activity and is used in many products. It is known as a moisturizer, and has been shown to speed the healing of minor skin ailments.

The Shea Tree

The shea tree’s fruit is about the size of a plum and is ready in the summer. The fruit is a green-orange color when ripe and the content is like sweet custard. It is has a high vitamin C content. One fruit usually contains one seed, but some may contain two or three seeds.

The shea tree is found in 19 countries of Africa. This spans Senegal to Uganda and Ethiopia. This part of the world is known as the Shea Belt. The market outlook for shea butter is much wider, and the uses of shea butter cuts across many industries.

The Shea trees are known for their fruits and the nut oils. Burkina Faso located in West Africa is known for its shea trees. Bukina Faso is part of the African shea tree zone. With over 80 percent of the territory covered by shea tress, Burkina Faso is recognized as a shea butter hub.

Shea Butter

Shea Butter comes in unrefined and refined forms. Both these forms are known to be effective moisturizers. The refined shea butters may moisturize well, it is not known for healing. Unrefined shea butter is called raw or virgin shea butter, and is an excellent moisturizer and processes some extraordinary healing abilities.

When shea butter is refined to remove odor and color the process removes more than 75 percent of the healing nutrients. The oil from various fruits, vegetables and nuts has a healing fraction in the range of one percent or less. The unrefined shea butter healing faction runs from five to sixteen percent. This is what sets shea butter apart from other oils used for healing.

Benefits

Pure shea butter, which means unrefined without any other fillers contains the largest healing fraction and has special ingredients, which are ideal for healing blemishes, itching, sunburns, surface wounds, eczema, skin allergies and reducing wrinkles. Unrefined Shea Butter is rich in vitamins A, E, and F. Vitamin E protects and strengthens the skin’s barrier, and is a good anti-inflammatory. Shea butter is ultra hydrating because of the vitamin A and E; this prevents premature wrinkles, and slackened skin.

Vitamin F also offers protections and revitalizes the texture and tone. It soothes rough dry and chapped skin and softens lines. Shea Butter is non greasy and fast absorbing and perfect for daily use. Vitamin F consists of linoleic, linolenic , and arachidonic acids, the three essential fatty acids.

The sensory benefits are the smooth, light silky feel to the skin after it is applied. It absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue. Shea butter is the most effective solution for recharging the skin with a youthful look.

There is a market for safe and natural skin care. Shea butter is efficient and green, it delivers beauty safely.

Alpha-Carotene for longevity

Comments Off

(NaturalHealth365) Alpha-carotene is one of approximately 50 carotenoids. Carotenoids are known to have anti-cancer and anti-aging compounds.

Benefits

Researchers have found that people who consume high levels of alpha-carotene may live longer. The fountain of youth may be found in orange and green vegetables.

The relationship between longevity and alpha-carotene may be due to its ability to delay or prevent chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and cancer. Much research has been focused on the benefits of beta-carotene and less attention has been given to the role of alpha-carotene. The two compounds are chemically similar, but studies have found that alpha-carotene is better at inhibiting several aspects of tumor formation.

Alpha-carotene protects cells from the effects of free radicals, provides a source of vitamin A, enhances the function of the immune system, is good for reproductive function, and prevents age related conditions.

People with high levels of alpha-carotene, live longer and are less likely to succumb to heart disease or cancer then people with low levels of alpha-carotene. This is according to the Archives of Internal Medicine. During a 14 year trial, researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that those with the highest levels of beta-carotene were nearly 40 percent less likely to go from any health related causes than those with the lowest levels. Those with medium levels were 27% less likely to succumb to any health related conditions.

Since the study was centered on dietary practices, pills on drugstore shelves aren’t recommended. The exact mechanism of operation of alpha-carotene is yet to be determined. The way to get it is from whole foods, which provide the whole range of carotenes.

Alpha carotene is thought to play a role in preventing some diseases and conditions. These include Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), age-related macular degeneration, asthma, angina pectoris, cervical dysplasia, cervical cancer, cataracts, laryngeal cancer, lung cancer, infertility, osteoarthritis, photosensitivity, pneumonia, skin cancer, arthritis and photosensitivity.

Foods

The focus should be on the sources of alpha-carotene. Alpha-carotene is found in orange colored fruits and vegetables such as carrots, tangerines, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, mangoes, persimmons, pumpkins, and winter squash. Dark-greens such as broccoli, green beans, green peas, spinach, turnip greens, collards, kale, cilantro, fresh thyme, Swiss chard, avocados and leafy green lettuce are also good sources.

Absorption is enhanced if these foods are consumed with fats. Carotenes are fat soluble. To halt both cell aging and protect against age related conditions you have to look to what’s missing in your diet. To block the deadly impact of the American diet, it is a must to include the fruits and vegetables that contain alpha-carotene. The rewards for including the above foods in your diet are being able to retain your health into your senior years. Maximizing both the length and quality of your life is no further away then your salad plate and fruit bowl.

The Secrets to Anti-Aging

(NaturalHealth365)The blueprint for a longer and healthier life is just being written. There are many aging research centers staffed with what are considered the best brains in this field. We are in the midst of a crucial period where we are looking to radically redefine aging.

Gerontology

In the future, we will be leaving the old model of aging behind.
Gerontology is going to be perceived of as minimally effective at extending human life span. The newer research looks at if you postpone age-related diseases it would be a way to postpone aging itself. This approach is different than the model now which is to keep age related conditions from interfering with daily activities. Age related diseases and disabilities include Alzheimer’s disease, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, hearing loss, vision problems, and joint problems. Gerontologists are looking forward to just modest progress. The view here is that aging is natural and not a disease.

Extending Lifespan-The New Path

The idea is to extend the human life span has been around for a long time. It is only now that we are getting to a phase where scientists are attempting to accomplish this.

Aging gracefully is still on the front burner, but scientists are looking to pave a new and radically different approach to stop the clock. We are in the mist of trying to reprogram genes and regenerate cellular function. Regenerative medicine is the process of creating functional tissue to repair and replace aging and damaged cells.

The potential for cellular regeneration is a new scientific initiative. This is based on a belief that you can enhance and turn back the clock by transforming aging cells into young stem cells. This could be a way to combat organ wear and tear and bolster their function.

Research into programming genes to extent life span has been going on for awhile. Differences in gene expression between young people and the elderly are well-documented. We see that in how our bodies work when we are young and as we age. We already have some control over our gene expression with the lifestyle choices we make.

Cellular Support Now

While all of the degenerative conditions are related to aging, many are really connected to our lifestyle. When you hear the term energy to burn you are talking about more than just a phase, you are identifying crucial component to a healthy life span. Cellular energy may be the key to longevity and health.

We are a chemical and energy system that responds to the environment. So with all the millions that are going to be spend on this new field it is essential that we target the right mechanism. We are in a race against time, because every year the toxic deluge increases. Bolstering lifespan while exposing everyone to ethanol, organic solvents, pharmaceuticals and mycotoxins makes the central role of eradicating aging a more prolonged process. Overexposure to stress hormones, estrogen disrupters, pharmaceuticals, and industrial chemicals is in itself a factor in chemical induced aging.

With nearly 70,000 industrial chemicals found in everyday products, and 1,000 synthetic chemicals introduced each year, we are increasingly put at risk.

Buying Time

It has been demonstrated that there is a means to transforming the human lifespan. You may not learn how to live forever, but it is well known that the unusually high life span of the people of Iceland and Okinawa Japan are due to a sharp distinction between their lifestyle and ours.

Longevity is both length of time and functioning capacity in later years. The groups of people that at this time have an impressive lifespan eat a local diet, which consists of nutrient-rich, low calorie foods, and have an active lifestyle. They live in an environmentally sound environment, and may have smaller amounts of stress. What we can take away from this is; it is how you see the world, and what you ingest that may determine your lifespan.

3 Ways to Slow the Aging Process

Many health experts agree that eating plenty of fruits and vegetables (loaded with antioxidants) can help you look and feel younger. They neutralize those nasty “free radicals”. Free radicals can kill cells, tear holes into cellular membranes, and even mutate DNA – the mastermind of cell activity.

Walking is a great form of aerobic exercise that reduces your risk for cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. And, finally, clean up your dental act. Avoiding plaque build up, removing mercury-based fillings and preventing root canals can go a long way to improving the quality of your life.

Want to live a longer, healthier, happier life? Our next guest on the NaturalNews Talk Hour is one of the finest anti-aging (medical) experts in the world. Join us for a special night.

The NaturalNews Talk Hour begins this Thursday evening at 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern, and registration is FREE.  Simply click the banner “free shows” on the right column of this page, enter your email address and you’ll receive call-in details for the show.

Stress and Premature Death

Chronic stress can cause the arteries in your heart to squeeze and cause your blood to clot too intensely, leading to a heart attack or stroke. The good news is there are plenty of things you can do to regain control over your life. For example, try taking a deep breath when you’re feeling stressed to help break up the stress cycle and rebalance your entire nervous system.
