How to safely remove toxins from the body and avoid chronic disease naturally

detox(NaturalHealth365) After rising steadily for 50 years, the incidence of chronic degenerative conditions in the United States has now reached epidemic proportions. According to the CDC, about half of all adults living in the United States deal with one or more chronic health issues related to nutritional deficiencies and/or too many toxins.

Heart disease, cancer and autoimmune disorders are spiraling out of control. According to natural health expert Dr. Joseph Pizzorno, two words – “toxin overload” – can explain the soaring rates of chronic disease. Fortunately, on the next NaturalHealth365 Talk Hour, we’ll discuss the many steps you can take to improve the detoxification pathways in the body and avoid the unwanted consequences of disease.

New research on environmental toxins and diabetes turns medical wisdom on its head

Dr. Pizzorno, who has long sounded the alarm about the dangers of environmental toxins, warns that most Americans have high levels of pesticides, solvents, heavy metals and industrial chemicals in their bodies. Now, recent research is validating his claim that this is a major cause of disease.

For example, conventional medical ‘wisdom’ has held diet and obesity to be a major factor in the development of diabetes. But, a recent study in Environmental Health Perspective suggested that exposure to persistent organic pollutants – or POPs – may be the single most significant risk factor in the development of diabetes and obesity – a stunning departure from the conventional thought process.

“Pesticides used on food are a better predictor of type 2 diabetes than any other tool we have today,” maintains Dr. Pizzorno. “Pesticides are insulin receptor site poisons,” adds Dr. Pizzorno, noting that people in the top 10 percent of toxic exposure are 20 times more likely to develop diabetes.

On the next NaturalHealth365 Talk Hour, you’ll discover the best ways to promote detoxification and safely remove these unwanted toxins from the body. Share this news with your family and friends – the solution is easier than you think.

Proper nutrition and supplements are the key to detoxification

Of course, safe and effective detoxification is a must in order to eliminate toxins. To accomplish this, Dr. Pizzorno uses a regimen of nutrients, supplements, herbs, botanicals and integrative therapies that may include water fasting and mercury chelation.

Healthy amounts of dietary fiber – the body’s main mechanism for eliminating toxic chemicals and heavy metals – are critical. The 10 to 15 grams of fiber per day of the typical American diet is woefully inadequate, says Dr. Pizzorno, who recommends upping fiber intake with oat bran, ground flax seeds, beans and lentils.

Detoxification also involves eliminating or sharply reducing what Dr. Pizzorno calls “toxins of choice.” Excessive salt intake, for example, is toxic because it impairs the production of glutathione, the body’s premier disease-fighting antioxidant and the most important molecule in ridding the body of chemical toxins. Others “toxins of choice” to watch out for include alcohol, tobacco and even – for people genetically unable to digest it – wheat.

I have to agree with you – maybe it would have been better for this article to have clarified that the kind of salt used makes a huge difference in whether the amount used can be harmful or helpful. I use only the pink Himalayan sea salt and verify it’s from Pakistan, and this is going to provide the kind of nutrients that salt should, to be beneficial. Regular white table salt has been processed to death and offers nothing good – this is probably what the article refers to, and too much of that definitely can be bad for health. Good that you brought this up! 🙂
