Modern farming practices are creating the epidemic rise in mineral deficiencies

Sadly, thanks to conventional nutritional wisdom, most people are led to believe that a ‘balanced diet’ will provide all the essential vitamins and minerals needed to enjoy a healthy life. Unfortunately, monocropping; the heavy use of herbicides and the deployment of genetically modified foods have dramatically reduced the quality of our food supply and its nutritional value.

And, let’s not forget the damage caused by highly-processed, denatured foods – which are so depleted in essential nutrients that food producers are forced to ‘fortify’ the products with synthetic substances, not found in nature. We must wake up the sleeping masses and warn them about the health dangers associated with eating nutrient-depleted foods.

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour – you’ll discover the hidden truth about disease, why sunlight and sulfur production are critically important, how sulfur helps to detoxify the body plus much more.

A lack of sulfur promotes the creation of cancer cells

To prevent cancer, we often hear about the value of chemical avoidance, consuming lots of antioxidant-rich foods plus the need for supplements like, vitamin C and D. But few people ever hear about the importance of sulfur – one of the most abundant minerals, found in the human body. This essential mineral is responsible for cellular respiration, regeneration, detoxification and functions as a precursor to the utilization of amino acids.

Simply put, if we want to avoid cancer – we must eat sulfur-rich foods like grass-fed meats and organically-raised fruits and vegetables. But, more importantly, we must avoid toxic chemicals found in personal care products, household cleaners and industrialized food products – which are loaded with cancer-causing substances that inhibit the absorption of sulfur plus other essential nutrients.

The widespread deficiency in sulfur – due to modern food production techniques – coupled with the proliferation of harmful chemicals in our environment must end for us to eliminate the growing threat of chronic disease in our society.

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, find out how sulfur can improve heart function, reduce inflammation, prevent autism and Alzheimer’s disease plus much more.

This week’s guest: Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D. – MIT Senior Research Scientist

Every healthcare professional needs to hear this program about sulfur – Sun. Jul. 27

Stephanie Seneff is a Senior Research Scientist at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. She has a Bachelor’s degree from MIT in biology with a minor in food and nutrition, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, also from MIT.

Her research has focused on understanding the effects of certain environmental toxicants, such as aluminum and glyphosate, on human physiology. She proposes that a low-micronutrient, high-carbohydrate diet, combined with excess exposure to environmental toxicants, and insufficient sunlight exposure to the skin and eyes, play a crucial role in many modern conditions and diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, Alzheimer’s disease and autism.

Without sulfur – there is no life. Sulfur plays a crucial role in cellular regeneration and oxygen transportation. So, if you’re interested in natural ways to prevent premature aging, detoxify the body and reverse disease symptoms – don’t miss our next show.

‘Frankenfish’ threatens to wipe out wild salmon population

July 20, 2014 by

Genetically Modified Salmon News(NaturalHealth365) Proponents of GMOs prefer that you call it “genetically modified salmon.” Opponents of GMOs – including natural health advocates, organic food growers, animal welfare groups, environmentalists, commercial fishermen, restaurateurs and chefs – have settled on a name of their own: “Frankenfish.”

But, by whatever name you call it, AquAdvantage salmon may soon be available in some stores. The FDA, scheduled to finalize its assessment of the genetically modified fish, may be nearing a ruling – almost two decades after AquaBounty Technologies, the developer of the fish, initially sought approval in 1996.

The FDA is facing a firestorm of protest over GM salmon

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already made preliminary findings on GM fish, announcing in December, 2012 that approval of the application would not have a significant impact on the US environment. The agency called AquAdvantage salmon “indistinguishable” from conventionally farmed salmon, and claimed that it is equally safe to eat.

More than 300 agencies, including the Center for Food Safety, have filed statements opposing approval, and 40 members of Congress have called for more rigorous review of the product. During the public comment portion of the proceedings, at least 400,000 people demanded that approval be denied.

And, if FDA approval is granted, a growing number of supermarkets – more than 60 – have announced that they will refuse to sell the GM salmon. The revolt began with select companies such as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and Aldi’s, and has recently grown to include larger corporations such as Target, Kroger and Safeway. Significantly, retail giant Wal-Mart has refused to comment.

Experts say that GM salmon could decimate the wild salmon population

A primary concern of GM fish foes is accidental escape: if GM salmon escape containment and mingle with native salmon, their larger size would give them an unfair advantage in competing for food. Although the fish are bred to be sterile, the FDA itself concedes that up to 5 percent of GM fish are actually fertile.

According to a study published in Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences, the accidental release of as few as 60 genetically modified salmon into a wild population of 60,000 would cause the demise of the native fish – a devastating scenario. In addition, opponents of GM salmon fear that safety concerns have not been fully addressed, and say that research on the fish has been flawed and incomplete.

Educated consumers are the most opposed to GM salmon

The Non-GMO Report cites a 2010 poll revealing that 81 percent of restaurant chefs surveyed oppose genetically altered food. And, perhaps more tellingly, a 2010 Washington Post poll showed that 79 percent of consumers say they won’t eat GM fish.

What, exactly, is genetically modified salmon?

To create the AquAdvantage salmon, developers introduced a growth gene from a Chinook salmon and a “promoter” gene from another fish, the eelpout. This genetic manipulation spurs production of growth hormone, causing the salmon to grow about twice as fast as conventional salmon.

Although 75 percent of the food on supermarket shelves and in restaurants contains some GMO ingredients – and the majority of corn and soybean crops are now GMO – this would be the first genetically engineered animal to be approved for human consumption.

Advocates claim that the fish can be grown by land-based farming, lowering transportation costs and resulting in cheaper production. They assert that In addition to benefiting the environment, the use of GM fish will allow more people to take advantage of fish as a healthy alternative to red meat and a rich source of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. Supporters of GM fish say they would also ease pressure on wild fisheries.

Warning: GM fish do not have to be identified by label

AquaBounty CEO Ron Stotish has publicly stated that once consumers see, touch and taste the fish, they will “wonder what all the fuss was about.” The statement is not only condescending but illogical – unless laws are passed that require GMO foods to be labeled, consumers will have no way of knowing exactly what they are seeing, touching and tasting.

Instead, they will be forced to participate in a sort of perverse shell game, perpetrated by the biotech companies and food retailers who choose to sell GMO fish: which fish on the shelf is GM? It’s a guessing game: some of it, all of it or none of it?

If “Frankenfish” does obtain FDA approval – and you want to avoid meeting it in the seafood aisle – opt for fish labeled USDA Organic; the use of GMOs is not permitted in foods labeled in this fashion. As usual, let the buyer beware.

How gluten can damage digestion and immune function

July 16, 2014 by

Why Avoid Gluten Foods(NaturalHealth365) Once considered an ‘unusual’ way of eating by a small group of people with celiac disease, gluten-free diets have become mainstream and quite popular throughout the United States. In the past, avoiding gluten was considered a ‘sacrifice’ – but, now, with so many choices people are taking a second look at its potential health benefits.

What’s the importance of a gluten-free diet? For the 3 million plus people suffering with celiac disease, a serious autoimmune condition, it’s very important to completely avoid gluten. But, does that mean everyone should be this strict? On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman talks to Susan Smith Jones, Ph.D. about the true value of a gluten-free diet; how to naturally improve digestion plus some stunning (new) research.

Find out if a gluten-free diet is really right for you. Simply sign up now for access to our free, weekly show by entering your email address and you’ll receive show times plus FREE gifts!

Why have gluten-free diets become the hottest food trend in recent years?

According to NPD, a leading global information company, “a third of U.S. adults say they want to cut down or be free of gluten in their diets.” In terms of financial growth, according to Mintel – a market research company, the sale of gluten-free products is expected to bring in over $15 billion annually by 2016. The popularity of gluten-free diets has been fueled by the growing need to improve digestive health, brain function, immune deficiencies and emotional well-being.

With millions of people suffering with celiac disease plus many other immune-related health problems, it’s no wonder that gluten has become ‘public enemy’ #1 in the minds of many Americans. For individuals sensitive to gluten, symptoms can include gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, headaches, trouble concentrating and fatigue. But, the most troublesome effect of gluten intolerance is the damage done to the intestinal walls – which make it difficult to absorb essential nutrients from the food we eat.

Are you suffering from gluten intolerance? On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour – you’ll learn how to naturally fix digestive disorders plus much more.

Simply sign up now for access to our free, weekly show by entering your email address and you’ll receive show times plus FREE gifts!

The connection between gluten and chronic disease

Even if you’re not ‘officially’ diagnosed with celiac disease, which can only be done by a biopsy and certain blood test, gluten sensitivity can cause inflammation of the digestive system and, eventually, a condition called leaky gut syndrome. A damaged digestive system can allow undigested food particles to enter the bloodstream creating health problems like brain fog, memory loss, chronic fatigue, depression and an increased risk of cancer. Simply put, gluten intolerance can compromise the function of every cell in the body.

Keep in mind, if you’re symptoms don’t go away by eating a gluten-free diet – then other health issues must be considered. The main point here is to NOT accept poor health as a ‘normal’ way of life. Obviously, if you’ve been struggling with unresolved chronic health issues, you may want to test for vitamin D deficiencies, heavy metal toxicity, thyroid dysfunction plus food allergies.

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, you’ll learn how to naturally improve digestive health, immune function plus much more. Join us for an informative (and entertaining) health show.

New study: Organic food has more antioxidants

July 12, 2014 by

Organic Food More Nutritious(NaturalHealth365) We all know that toxic pesticides – found on conventionally-grown produce – contribute to inflammation and every known chronic disease. These dangerous chemicals are being sprayed on our food – every day – and cause massive collateral damage to the environment and human health.

Yet, pro-GMO activists and most of the major food producers of the world would have us believe that chemically-raised produce is ‘perfectly safe’. This is such a lie and, now, we have the scientific proof to back up such a claim.

Fantastic NEW study reveals the value of organic food

A comprehensive review of past studies clearly indicate that organically grown food have much higher levels of antioxidants and lower levels of pesticides compared to conventionally grown produce.

In fact, Carlo Leifert, a professor of ecological agriculture at Newcastle University in England (lead researcher) said: “If you buy organic fruits and vegetables, you can be sure you have, on average, a higher amount of antioxidants at the same calorie level.” And, although the researchers are ‘not able’ to make health claims – the results are quite impressive and the message is very clear.

Anyone, in their right mind, interested in preventing – even reversing – disease would want to reduce their pesticide exposure and increase the consumption of antioxidants. According to The Organic Trade Association, in 2013, United States sales of organic food were approximately $32.3 billion (around 4% of the total market). Clearly, people are waking up to the importance of clean food for optimal health.

New study proves that organic food has superior nutritional value

This new study is scheduled to be published (next week) in the British Journal of Nutrition and its findings are really impressive. Researchers discovered that, over all, ‘organic crops contained 17 percent more antioxidants than conventionally grown crops.’ In some classes of antioxidants – the difference was much greater. For example, a group of compounds known as flavanones were 69 percent higher in the organic produce samples.

At a cost of $429,000 – paid for by the European Union and the Sheepdrove Trust, a British charity that supports organic farming research – the scientists said the money came with ‘no strings’ attached and the research passed all the rigors of scientific peer review for publication.

Do you really want to eat weed and bug killing chemicals?

In light of recent government testing and scientific studies – we really need to be more careful with how we feed our family.  According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), these are the ‘dirtiest’ conventionally-grown fruits and vegetables to avoid at all costs:

  • Nectarines
  • Celery
  • Pears
  • Peaches
  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Strawberries
  • Imported Grapes
  • Spinach
  • Potatoes
  • Bell Peppers
  • Red Raspberries

Keep in mind, toxic chemicals found in non-organic fruits and vegetables, grains, beans, overly-processed foods, vaccines, municipal water supplies and polluted air can build up (over time) within the body and contribute to metabolic disorders, weight gain, hormonal imbalances plus many other degenerative disease conditions. Don’t be overwhelmed by this information – just start cleaning up your diet and immediate living space as soon as possible.

Bottom line: Even if you don’t believe that organic food is more nutritious – you have to admit that less chemicals in the body and in the environment is a ‘good’ thing. Let’s do everything we can to take better care of ourselves and the health of this planet.

Treat and reverse asthma naturally

July 9, 2014 by

Cure Asthma Naturally(NaturalHealth365) We all know the difficulties associated with asthma such as, difficulty breathing, coughing and an inability to perform normal daily activities. Sadly, if you search the internet, conventional medicine wants you to believe there ‘is no natural cure’ for this dreadful condition. But, that’s a lie – and I can prove it.

Natural solutions for asthma DO exist. On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Teresa Fuller, M.D., Ph.D. will outline a comprehensive strategy designed to eliminate asthma – without the need for toxic drugs. This show will certainly improve the quality of your life.

Simply sign up now for access to our free, weekly show by entering your email address and you’ll receive show times plus FREE gifts!

Living proof that asthma IS curable – despite what your doctor tells you

WebMD, the epitome of poor medical guidance, tells its readers, “Unfortunately, there is no cure for asthma at this point. In fact, it’s highly advisable to avoid any asthma treatment or product – natural or otherwise – that claims to be a “cure” for asthma.” Do they really believe what they’re saying? And, more importantly, are they even taking the time to read the medical literature about asthma solutions?

Western medicine, online, gives no hope for asthma patients. My advice is to stop reading pharmaceutically-driven, false propaganda and look carefully at credible science. For example, researchers at Children’s National Medical Center have discovered that “African American children with asthma in metropolitan Washington, DC, are significantly more likely to have low levels of vitamin D than healthy African American children.”

Bottom line, get a proper vitamin D test – called 25-hydroxyvitamin D – and be sure to maintain optimal levels of 50-70 ng/ml. By the way, natural health experts suggest that cancer patients maintain levels between 70 and 100 ng/ml.

Obviously, in acute situations – conventional asthma medications can be lifesaving. But, in the long term, bronchodilators and steroids tend to be toxic, addictive and more problematic. Thousands of people have freed themselves of asthma symptoms (naturally) by reducing their omega-6 intake; supplementing with high-quality omega-3s, vitamin C, D and eating a plant-based diet.

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Dr. Teresa Fuller offers great advice on how to naturally restore respiratory function. If your child suffers from asthma – don’t miss this program.

Simple ways to defeat asthma naturally

1. Minimize your exposure to environmental toxins – indoors and outdoors. Avoid smoking areas or other toxic fumes, surround yourself (indoors) with lots of plants or use a high-quality air purification system.

2. Avoid processed foods. These foods tend to be loaded with too many omega-6 vegetable oils, sugars, toxic fats and excessive amounts of commercialized salt. Poor food quality promotes inflammation and makes it very difficult to breathe.

3. Stay away from factory-farmed meats and conventional dairy products. These foods are usually pasteurized, homogenized and loaded with unwanted additives such as, nitrites and sulfites – which lack nutrition and clog up the cardiorespiratory pathways.

If you’re tired of suffering with asthma symptoms – you’re going to LOVE our next show with Dr. Teresa Fuller and Jonathan Landsman. Join us for an informative show.

This week’s guest: Teresa Fuller, M.D., Ph.D., board certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine

Learn how to eliminate the threat of asthma without toxic drug therapies – Sun. Jul. 13

Teresa Fuller MD, PhD, is a holistic pediatrician at National Integrated Health Associates (NIHA) – serving the Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia area. She is board-certified in pediatrics and integrative holistic medicine with a doctorate in physiology.

This combination places Dr. Fuller in a unique position to positively impact the health of children by identifying the underlying contributors to disease such as nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, infections and other stressors in order to reverse symptoms and restore your child’s health. Her focus is prevention of chronic illness and obesity in children and young adults, ADHD, asthma and allergies.

Get rid of asthma – naturally. Conventional treatments for asthma increase your risk of impaired growth, infections, cardiovascular disease and bone loss. Fortunately, with diet and lifestyle changes, you can avoid the serious complications associated with conventional drugs.

Educate yourself, develop a plan of action and get started today.

Five ways to lower blood pressure naturally

July 7, 2014 by

How to Lower Blood Pressure Naturally(NaturalHealth365) Medical doctors have dubbed hypertension “the silent killer,” and the nickname is appropriate.  High blood pressure, which currently affects over 67 million Americans, typically has no symptoms; yet greatly increases your risk for a heart attack, stroke, aneurysm, and kidney disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), high blood pressure causes the United States $47.5 billion health care dollars a year. Even more disturbing is the fact that it either directly causes – or contributes to – 1,000 deaths across the country every day.  If you’re looking for a simple way to avoid these problems – keep reading.

Educate yourself and avoid needless suffering

Most of the time there is no identifiable cause for high blood pressure, although being overweight, leading a sedentary life, eating too much salt, drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes all can raise your risk.  In some cases, an underlying medical condition – such as kidney disease, adrenal gland tumors, thyroid disease, and sleep apnea – are responsible.

At what point is blood pressure considered “too high?”

According to most conventionally-trained physicians, a blood pressure reading of 120 over 80 is considered normal. Levels of 120 to 129 over 80 to 90 are considered “prehypertension,” while readings of 140 to 159 over 90 to 99 are categorized as Stage 1 hypertension.  Finally, readings north of 160 over 100 are considered Stage 2.

Doctors prescribe a wide range of drugs to control blood pressure, including beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors and thiazide diuretics. Although these medications can be effective, they feature side effects. Thiazide diuretics, for example, can wreak havoc with levels of beneficial HDL, raise triglycerides and total cholesterol, plus increase your risk of diabetes.

Thankfully, there are steps you can take to lower your blood pressure safely and naturally.

Watermelon’s amino acids have dramatic effects on blood pressure

You may want to simply start snacking on watermelon.  In a study conducted at Florida State University and published in the American Journal of Hypertension, researchers found that watermelon significantly reduced blood pressure in people who were overweight. Two of watermelon’s constituents, the amino acids citrulline and arginine, had a positive impact on aortic blood pressure, and reduced myocardial oxygen demand.

An earlier study, published in 2010 in American Journal of Hypertension, demonstrated that L-citrulline and L-arginine extracted from watermelon had vasodilatory (or blood vessel widening) effects that improved arterial function and lowered pressure in people who were prehypertensive.

If watermelon isn’t readily available, citrulline malate can be taken as a supplement.

Olive oil inhibits an enzyme responsible for raising blood pressure

Olive oil, a key component of the popular Mediterranean diet, is widely acknowledged to reduce the risk of heart disease.  Generally speaking, researchers are finding that healthy minimally-processed fats have blood pressure-lowering effects.  I love coconut oil  and it’s good for the heart and brain function.

It turns out that raw olive oil – a popular ingredient in salad dressings – really is a perfect way to flavor your greens.  In a new study published in May 2014 in PNAS, the Journal of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers found that olive oil combines with nitrite and nitrates in lettuce and other vegetables to form nitro fatty acids, or NFAs. These fatty acids inhibit an enzyme, soluble epoxide hydrolase, which raises blood pressure.

The good news just keeps coming with olive oil.  In addition to lowering blood pressure and promoting cardiovascular health, it has been linked to protection against breast cancer and diabetes.

Vitamin D: the “sunshine vitamin” offers blood pressure benefits

In a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study presented at a 2012 meeting of the European Society of Hypertension, researchers found that vitamin D supplementation in wintertime helped lower the blood pressure of hypertensive European patients who were low in this essential nutrient. The team noted that many Europeans have low vitamin D levels – particularly in February, when natural sunlight is in short supply.

According to the Life Extension Foundation, vitamin D accomplishes its beneficial effect by suppressing the expression of renin, a blood pressure hormone. In order to achieve adequate vitamin D Levels, which LEF typifies as between 60 and 70 nanograms per milliliter, 6,000 IU per day is the recommended dosage.

Reduce your intake of salt – especially conventional varieties

The CDC says that if the average national daily intake of salt were reduced from 3,400 milligrams to the 2,300 milligrams recommended in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the number of people with high blood pressure could be cut by as much as 11 million, saving the nation $18 billion dollars annually – along with countless lives. Of course, the Mayo Clinic does not identify the difference between overly-processed table salt (with no minerals) and sea salt – which is loaded with essential minerals.

The Mayo Clinic advises no more than 1,500 milligrams of sodium a day for those who have been diagnosed with hypertension, or are over 50.  You can control your sodium intake by carefully reading food labels.  After all, most excessive sodium intake is due to the consumption of processed food.  If you really want to protect your cardiovascular system – avoid foods with a label and eat mostly natural, unprocessed food.

Keep in mind, many high-sodium foods are also loaded with chemical preservatives, sugar and empty calories.

To break a dependency on the salt shaker, try some fresh spices like rosemary and thyme or sprinkle some fresh, organic lemon juice on your food.  These natural salt alternatives are bursting with antioxidants and delicious flavor.

Eliminate toxic ‘trans fats’ from your diet

It’s best to adopt a “zero tolerance” policy with these harmful fats, which raise blood pressure and increase your risk of a heart attack, cancer and diabetes. Tip-offs to their presence are the words “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated” fats on food labels.  Bottom line – avoid these toxic fats at all costs.

Many health experts recommend the ‘DASH Diet’, which was created to help lower blood pressure, and has been clinically shown to be effective.  The emphasis is on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dairy products.  These foods are loaded with blood pressure lowering nutrients like, potassium, magnesium, calcium and fiber.  Just remember – shop organically as much as you can.

Of course, you should never attempt to treat your high blood pressure – or any other medical condition – with foods and supplements unless you are under the supervision of a trusted, medical professional. Discuss dietary changes and nutritional supplements with your doctor.  If he or she can’t help you – find another doctor.

Hypertension is a serious health issue that can easily be resolved with diet and lifestyle modifications. Focus on positive (healthy) habits and the symptoms of disease will fade away.

4 Ways to Avoid Sickness(NaturalHealth365) How long do you expect to live a healthy life? And, more importantly, what is your vision for those years? If you’re like most people – you want: lots of love, great health and financial independence. But, in my opinion, optimal health makes everything else possible.

Take control of your health. On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Roby Mitchell, M.D. outlines a clear path toward optimal health – which enables us to reach our highest potential. Learn how to improve your energy, balance hormones and achieve ideal body weight plus much more.

4 steps to achieving (and maintaining) optimal health

Create a healthy vision for your future. In speaking with many natural health experts – the message is very clear – a positive vision about your life is essential for optimal health. For example, a cancer patient may currently be suffering – but they see themselves as completely healed. Your vision is everything.

Develop emotionally stability – especially in hard times. Obviously, a healthy diet and good relationships can get just about anyone through rough times. But, ultimately, toxic (negative) emotions – like chronic fear – can suppress the immune system and cause premature aging. Simply put, resolving emotional issues are essential to enjoy a healthy life.

Get rid of limiting beliefs about yourself. Napoleon Hill, author of one of the most successful books of all time, Think and Grow Rich once said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.” Never forget, your personal beliefs affect your health and your ability to heal from illness.

Finally, create a personal strategy for success. If you’re looking to prevent, even reverse disease – you must have a plan. And, if that plan is not working – my best advice would be – get another plan. For example, if your primary care physician is unable to help you feel better – find another doctor, as fast as possible.

On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, Jonathan Landsman and Roby Mitchell, M.D. talk about the most important health topics of our time. Learn how to eliminate disease symptoms and enjoy great health.

A ‘prescription for health’ that everyone must avoid

Conventional medicine and pharmaceutical drugs will not solve your health problems. Don’t get me wrong – western medicine has its place in emergency situations – but life-changing solutions, ultimately, depend on much more than toxic drugs or being dependent on your doctor for help.

When feeling sick – may I suggest a successful mindset for a full recovery? Try to view every personal challenge as an opportunity to change. Remember, your ‘bad’ situation does not have to define who you are. If you’re suffering with disease – change your diet, take high-quality nutritional supplements and make healthier lifestyle decisions to dramatically improve the quality of your life.

Join us, on the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, for an inspirational health show.

This week’s guest: Roby D. Mitchell, M.D., a leading expert in alternative health therapies

Find out how to eliminate disease symptoms, vitamin deficiencies + much more – Sun. Jul. 6

Roby D. Mitchell, M.D. graduated with honors from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. But, what makes this physician so extraordinary is his extensive training in alternative therapies – starting in China, while in medical school. After graduating, our guest studied with renowned physicians like Hugh Riordan, Christiane Northrup, Jonathan Wright, and the father of aerobic exercise Kenneth Cooper.

In September of 2007, Dr. Mitchell was invited to practice at the prestigious Tahoma Clinic, the nation’s premier nutritional medicine clinic. Currently, Dr. Mitchell consults worldwide with other physicians interested in transitioning their patients on to regimens that take them off drugs and on to healthful regimens using nutrition, exercise and targeted nutritional supplements. He also continues to serve patients with nutritional/lifestyle counseling and education on bio-identical hormone replacement.

Eliminate disease without drugs. Although conventional ‘wisdom’ would have you believe that achieving optimal health is complicated – it’s not. You have the power to achieve anything with the right mindset. To overcome illness – educate yourself; take action (every day) and always live your life in love and happiness.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids promote cancer growth

July 1, 2014 by

Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Cause Cancer(NaturalHealth365) There is an enormous amount of scientific data documenting the connection between polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the development of cancer plus many other degenerative diseases. Promoting the consumption of vegetable oils, loaded with PUFAs, as part of a healthy diet is not only unscientific – it’s dangerously unethical.

Animal studies clearly indicate that excess intake of polyunsaturated vegetable oils – found in most processed foods – inhibit cognitive function, cause liver toxicity; and depress our immune system – which leads to cancer.

Warning: PUFAs trigger cancer cell growth

Ray Peat, Ph.D. in biology from Oregon University once said, “be very careful with the unsaturated oils, such as safflower, corn, and cod liver oil: they destroy vitamin E and can cause cancer.”

Dr. Peat added, in a scientific paper, “cancer can’t occur, unless there are unsaturated oils in the diet.”

Back in the 1970s, Dr. Newsholme of Oxford University, England was one of the first to suggest that polyunsaturated fats suppress the immune system. He warned that ‘our diet includes immunosuppressive PUFAs – which make us prone to infection by bacteria and viruses.’ But, it’s how he discovered this fact which makes this information so compelling.

In the early days of kidney transplantation, doctors encountered a problem of tissue rejection – where the patients’ body destroyed the transplanted kidney(s). Back then, doctors found no better way of preventing organ rejection than giving patients linoleic acid – loaded with PUFAs – specifically designed to suppress the immune system.

A shocking discover about vegetable oils and cancer

The kidney transplant doctors were amazed to discover how quickly their patients developed cancer – some were up to 20 times more frequent than expected. Yet, despite this alarming statistic – conventional medicine (and nutritionists) continue to promote the ‘value’ of eating more PUFAs.

This, of course, ignores the fact that – in January 1980 – Oncology Times published a paper which revealed that mice fed PUFAs were more prone to develop melanoma. Again, in May 1980, the same publication carried a similar report from Oregon State University – which said that PUFAs fed to cancer-prone mice increased the numbers of cancers formed.

The connection between PUFAs and breast cancer

A Swedish study, published in January 1988, looked at 61,471 women – age 40 to 76 – and the relationship between different fats and breast cancer. This study found an inverse association with monounsaturated fat and a positive association with polyunsaturated fat.

Simply put, monounsaturated fats protected against breast cancer and polyunsaturated fats increased the risk of cancer. Saturated fats were neutral.

Chemically speaking, monounsaturated and saturated fats are more stable than PUFAs. In other words, PUFAs get spoiled (rancid) more easily – which creates more free radicals and promotes cancer cell growth.

Deceptive food marketing promotes premature aging and death

We, as humans, have been evolving for a very long time – but industrial (processed) foods are relatively new. In reality, we didn’t start producing vegetable oils until about a hundred years ago.

Major food producers – along with their fancy marketing agencies – would have us believe that unsaturated oils help to prevent degenerative disease – despite the overwhelming scientific data to the contrary.

Every cracker, cake, cookie, salad dressing, cereal, frozen meal and candy – sold today – is marketed as ‘natural’ – yet these very same products are loaded with heavily processed vegetable oils, refined flours and added sugars. It’s no wonder we see such an increase in cancer and heart disease rates.

The solution is simple. To avoid poor health – don’t buy any products laced with polyunsaturated vegetable oils. If you love the taste of fat – and who doesn’t – try adding a small amount of fresh olives, sesame seeds, coconut oil, olive oil, walnuts, avocados or hemp seeds (and hemp oil) to your diet.

If you’re looking for a healthy saturated fat option – try grass-fed beef or raw butter. Remember the value of an old saying, less is more – especially when it comes to the processing of our food supply.

Yoga relieves symptoms of COPD

June 30, 2014 by

Yoga Relieves COPD(NaturalHealth365) For 24 million Americans with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, simply drawing breath – something most of us take for granted – can be a struggle.  But a new study shows that an ancient healing practice – yoga – can alleviate symptoms and increase quality of life.

According to research conducted by the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and presented at the 2013 annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, 12 weeks of training in yoga caused patients with the condition to experience improvements in lung function and decreases in inflammation and shortness of breath.

Simple yoga moves improve lung function

The 29 participants of the study, who had all been diagnosed with stable chronic pulmonary obstructive disease – or COPD – were taught yoga rudiments such as asanas, or poses, along with yogic breathing techniques called pranayamas and cleaning techniques, or kriyas. They were also instructed in a relaxation technique known as shavasan – along with basic meditation.

The training took place in hour-long sessions twice a week for four weeks; over the next eight weeks, the hourly sessions were held once every two weeks. This exposure to yoga was enough to result in significant improvements in breathing and well-being, leading researchers to describe yoga as a simple and cost-effective method to improve quality of life for COPD patients.

Great news for chronic bronchitis and emphysema patients

There is currently no cure for COPD; conventional medicine merely manages symptoms with pharmaceutical drugs such as bronchodilators and steroids. However, these medications often feature serious side effects.

In contrast, the practice of yoga can strengthen the muscles, improve balance and flexibility, detoxify the body, restore emotional balance, and reduce anxiety and confusion. In fact, yoga is endorsed by the American College of Sports Medicine, which says it promotes core strength. And, the best part, yoga restores your inner sense of peace and balance.

Discover the best reasons to start yoga – today

Yoga, an ancient practice that has existed for over 4000 years, stresses the balance between body and mind, and has physical, mental and spiritual components. The word “yoga” means “union” or “yoking” in Sanskrit; and proper breathing, exercise and meditation are all indispensable ingredients of the technique.

Practitioners perform a variety of asanas, or poses, which can be done sitting, standing or lying down; another component of yoga – vinyasa – involves dynamic movement. If you would like to try this ancient healing system, make sure to find a qualified instructor who can work out a program that is right for you; experts say Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga or Flow and Restore Yoga are ideal for those just getting started.

Yoga benefits go way beyond healthy lungs

Yoga’s benefits include reducing coronary risk factors, which is key for many COPD sufferers. According to a study presented at the 2011 European Respiratory Society’s Annual Congress, people with COPD are at serious risk of developing heart disease.

Not only does yoga seem to lower cardiovascular risk factors, but a 2012 study published in Spine magazine supported its ability to relieve chronic back pain.

A deadly habit takes a terrible toll…

The primary cause of COPD is cigarette smoking. Mayo Clinic notes that one out of five chronic smokers eventually develops the condition; occupational exposure to chemicals accounts for most other cases. If you smoke, quitting is the single most important thing you can do to prevent this agonizing condition.

For those already diagnosed with COPD, an appropriate yoga program can bring substantial relief, while alleviating stress and promoting harmony between body and mind.

Vitamin C helps to prevent gum disease

June 30, 2014 by

Vitamin C Can Prevent Gum Disease(NaturalHealth365) Periodontal disease is characterized by swollen, bleeding gums and pocket formation. In fact, gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Conventionally speaking, deep dental cleanings and oral surgery tend to be the ‘standard’ form of treatment for this condition.

Unfortunately, most patients are never told that collagen – the connective tissue, capable of building up the gums – is needed to strengthen the teeth. This is where large doses of vitamin C could work wonders on restore gum health.

A better solution for gum disease

There is a shifting paradigm in our understanding of gum disease. Many researchers in the field of nutrition understand bleeding swollen gums are a sign of scurvy – which is the hallmark of a vitamin C deficiency.

How does vitamin C help to prevent gum disease?

Everything from receding gums and tooth sensitivity can often be attributed to a vitamin C deficiency. It is estimated that gums turn over at least 20% of their collagen every single day. Collagen supports the gums by promoting both circulation and strength.

Every time teeth touch each other, from chewing food or grinding together, they use up some vitamin C. This is why the teeth that touch first when you close your mouth will have the most gum recession, decay and plaque buildup.

Yes, vitamin C inhibits the formation of plaque and tartar. In fact, vitamin C is referred to as the invisible toothbrush. Even if you are a tooth brushing fanatic – you may not get the results you want without adequate amounts of vitamin C.

Vitamin C deficiency promotes plaque buildup

There are scientific studies cited in the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine which looked at brushing frequency and vitamin C status. Research revealed that individuals brushing once a day – and having good vitamin C levels – had less plaque than those who brushed twice or more daily, but had low levels of vitamin C.

People that grind or clench their teeth will notice more sensitivity and gum problems because of their increased need of vitamin C. Also, it has been found that people who consume less than the daily allowance of vitamin C, are one and half times more likely to develop severe gingivitis than those who consumed three times the amount.

While only a small amount of vitamin C intake a day is needed to prevent scurvy, this is hardly sufficient for optimal adrenal and oral health. What isn’t well recognized is that scurvy is a continuum and although low levels of scurvy aren’t recognized by the medical establishment – it still exists.

Vitamin C effectively kills unfriendly bacteria

Since vitamin C is one of the best natural defenses against bacteria – it is essential for health teeth and gums. Let’s not forget, the mouth is the gateway to the body not only for food, but also for unwanted bacteria.

The toxins – which the bacteria emit – are a real cause of dental disease. They promote gum pocketing, which eventually leads to tooth lost. While vitamin C is one of the best toxin killers – it is also a wonderful electron donor.

Toxins deplete electron stores at the cellular level. Having sufficient electrons inside your cells will save the gum walls – when toxins are prevalent in the oral cavity.

How modern dentistry fails to save teeth

Periodontal exams are considered the best form of prevention. That’s like saying mammograms prevent breast cancer – very deceptive, to say the least.

If periodontal and dentist recommendations for gum and tooth health were so good why would we have statistics which say one out of every two American adults, over 30 years of age, have some form of periodontal disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the risk for adults – 65 and older – goes up to 70.1 percent. Their study was published in the Journal of Dental Research, the official publication of the International and American Associations for Dental Research.

Will conventional dentistry ever tell the truth about gum disease?

The simple fact is most Americans are eating too many simple sugars and processed foods. All processed foods along with sugar, corn syrup, and other sweeteners deplete the body of vitamin C.

Yet, this fact is not addressed by the dental association and guidelines for dental health fail to mention the importance of vitamin C.  One thing to remember – when choosing any form of vitamin C – avoid the GMOs.  Unfortunately, most brands contain genetically engineered ingredients – so ask your supplier before you make your purchase.

Generally speaking, only around 20% of oral vitamin C is absorbed – with the balance remaining in the gastrointestinal tract to attract water and loosen the bowels.

Periodontal disease, once established, needs more than a low dose vitamin C supplement. This is where liposome-encapsulated vitamin C can help. Liposomal vitamin C is utilized and absorbed easily and can be taken in larger amounts – without the risk of diarrhea or stomach upset.

Bottom line, daily brushing and flossing are simply not enough to avoid gum disease. Be sure to maintain a healthy diet – low in simple sugars and processed foods. Plus, always eat a diet rich in vitamin C and supplement – if needed.

The GMO threat: How to protect ourselves

June 25, 2014 by

GMO Myths and Truths Revealed(NaturalHealth365) Pro-GMO activists would have us believe that genetically modified (GM) foods are ‘perfectly safe’. They claim that GM foods will make agricultural practices more sustainable; increase crop yields, reduce the use of pesticides, provide more nutritious foods and (my favorite) help make farming easier and more profitable. Scientifically speaking, every one of these so-called ‘benefits’ are deceptive and outright lies manufactured by the biotech industry.

Protect your health by knowing the truth. For example, the herbicide Roundup – created by Monsanto – has been shown to be 1,000 times more toxic than its isolated (active) component glyphosate. In fact, Roundup and glyphosate have been shown to cause damage to DNA, reproductive problems, cancer + much more. On the next NaturalNews Talk Hour, get the latest news and trends about GMOs.

The biotech industry lies about the ‘safety’ of GM foods

When Monsanto says that GM foods are ‘perfectly safe’ – they neglect to tell you that most of their animal feeding studies on GMOs are less than 3 months in length. Obviously, short-term studies will fail to show chronic health effects like organ failure, cancer or digestive problems. Simply put, we must demand long-term safety studies – before allowing GMOs to dominate our food supply.

How can anyone, honestly, say that GM foods cause no harm? Currently, the United States government has no tracking system for reporting negative side effects and, even if they did, there are no requirements to label GM foods – so most people have no knowledge about whether they are consuming GMOs or not.

Best study proves that GM food threaten human health

In 2012, Professor Séralini and a team of researchers published a study which found that a Monsanto GM Roundup-tolerant corn and very low levels of the Roundup herbicide caused severe organ damage and hormonal disruption in rats fed over a long-term period of two years. Another shocking revelation was the unexpected findings of increased rates of large tumors and premature death in some animal groups.

This sickening technology has taken over the food supply. If you want to avoid GMOs – you must look carefully at all the food you eat. Currently, in the United States commercialized GM crops include soy (94%), cotton (90%), canola (90%), sugar beets (95%), corn (88%), Hawaiian papaya (more than 50%), zucchini and yellow squash (over 24,000 acres). Don’t underestimate the power of your food purchasing dollar – avoid buying GM foods by looking for the organic or ‘non-GMO project verified’ seal.

In my opinion, chemtrails, EMF pollution and GMOs represent the greatest threats to human life. Educate yourself and share this news with your family and friends. Remember, just one person (you) can make such a difference in this world.

This week’s guest: Ken Roseboro, top expert on all aspects of genetically modified foods

Get the latest news about non-GMO trends, legislation and action steps – Sun. Jun. 29

Ken Roseboro has been called “the nation’s reporter on all issues surrounding genetically modified foods” by Acres USA magazine. Ken is editor and publisher of The Organic & Non-GMO Report, a monthly news magazine that focuses on the threats posed by GM foods and the growing non-GMO food trend.

He is also editor and publisher of The Non-GMO Sourcebook, an annual directory of suppliers of non-GMO and organic seed, grains, and ingredients. Ken is author of Genetically Altered Foods and Your Health and The Organic Food Handbook. In addition, Ken appears in the documentary film, GMO OMG.

GM foods fail to deliver on its promises. In reality, GMOs are not safe to eat. They do not yield greater crops or reduce the need for chemicals. And, finally, GM foods will not solve world issues like, climate change, energy issues or world hunger. Want to help stop GMOs? Join us for our next show.
