Vitamin C protects against liver injury caused by MSG

chinese-food(NaturalHealth365) There are many reasons to avoid consuming monosodium glutamate (MSG). This “flavor-enhancing” food additive MSG is a known neurotoxin, yet is liberally added to a slew of processed foods, meats and restaurant meals.

From headache to chest pain, there is a long list of MSG side effects. But one of the most serious health risks linked to consumption of MSG is damage to the liver. Now research suggests that vitamin C could help protect against liver injury caused by MSG.

Going out for dinner? Be careful what you order

Characterized by some health experts as being worse for the human body than nicotine or alcohol, the flavor enhancer MSG is frequently added to processed food and restaurant fare. Surprisingly, MSG itself has little flavor at all. Instead, it works by tricking the human taste buds with a little known basic taste known as umami.

Umami is the taste of glutamate, making foods containing MSG taste better, more robust and more appealing. Although it classified the additive as “generally safe” back in 1959, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has since identified “MSG Symptom Complex” as short-term reactions to MSG. Sadly, this does not provide an accurate picture of the often-lasting impacts of MSG.

Look at how MSG can kill brain cells

Medical experts like Dr. Russell Blaylock point out that MSG can overexcite cells to the point of causing damage or death, along with varying degrees of brain damage. Research results also show it potentially triggers such disabilities as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Blaylock is a board-certified neurosurgeon who authored a book on the risks of consuming MSG, “Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills.” Research has even shown that glutamate receptors can form in the heart’s electrical conduction system and the heart muscle. This can be particularly risky for athletes, who often have low stores of magnesium, making them more susceptible to MSG-induced cardiac arrhythmias and even death.

A warning to food shoppers about MSG

Determining if your food contains MSG is not as easy as it seems. Most food manufacturers have removed MSG from their labels, but are not required to list ingredients containing glutamic acid, its main component.

Certain food ingredients can be counted on to contain MSG, such as hydrolyzed protein and gelatin. Other foods, such as soy sauce and malt extract, are highly likely to contain it. Rather than trying to identify whether MSG is found in your food, avoid processed foods as much as possible to safeguard against MSG side effects. Instead, opt for whole, fresh foods to avoid being harmed, and take a vitamin C supplement to protect yourself from oxidative stress – caused by MSG.

Protect yourself from liver damaged caused by MSG consumption

With all the known vitamin C health benefits, it should come as no surprise that vitamin C supplements are also believed to lessen MSG side effects, including liver injury. Research has shown vitamin C to be an antioxidant, with the ability to clean up free radicals produced in the body.

Vitamin C is able to scavenge superoxide, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals. A study published in Experimental and Toxicologic Pathology showed marked improvements in the health of the liver after treatment with vitamin C.

It is believed that vitamin C works to reverse the impact of MSG on the liver by causing a significant drop in unhealthy growth cells and reducing mutations of tumor suppressor genes. It also has a protective effect on the liver.

Now, there is another reason to supplement with vitamin C. The list keeps getting bigger for the benefits of this vitamin. Before I read this article I have been taking this vitamin off and on. I will now continuously and consistently use it.

There is huge misinformation regarding vitamin C and realize the only effect is from an antioxidant effect!

The typical ascorbic acid that is called vitamin C by many is not
really vitamin C, but a component of the true vitamin C complex.
Vitamin C was discovered by the Nobel Prize laureate, Dr. Albert
Szent-Györgyi in 1937. As part of his research on vitamin C, he found
that he could not cure scurvy with the isolated ascorbic acid as a
      single element.

The complete complex of vitamin C includes ascorbic acid and contains ascorbinogen, bioflavonoids, rutin, tyrosinase, Factor J, Factor K, and Factor P. In addition, mineral co-factors must be available in proper amounts. If any of these parts are missing, there is no vitamin C, no vitamin activity. When some of them are present, the body will draw on its own stores to make up the differences, so that the whole vitamin complex may be present. Provided that all other conditions and co-factors are present, the vitamin activity will take place. Ascorbic acid is described merely as the “antioxidant wrapper” portion of vitamin C; ascorbic acid protects the functional parts of the vitamin from rapid oxidation or breakdown.

In fact vitamin C has only an anitoxidant affect on the body, especially
the ascorbic acid most think is vitamin C. In fact Vitamin C turns off
the vitamin D3 receptors in all cells of the body and prevents the DNA
to express healthfully. Linus Pauling gave his wife mega doses when she
found out she had cancer and in 4 months she died as a result. When
the D3 receptor is turned off, your body cannot fight cancer!

If a person happens to take an ascorbic acid pill, which is thought by many
to be Vitamin C, the mere combination of ascorbic acid and benzoate of
soda found in most soft drinks as a preservative makes pure benzene that
can end up in the liver. Benzene is a deadly poison. “Oh, but the
quantity is so small it can’t hurt you,” they tell us. Really? That
combination of chemicals is not “soft,” healthy, or has anything to do
with you losing weight, but the marketing people are playing it up to
anyone who is gullible enough to believe it, with no warning about this
is on the label, as I recall.

It is unbelievable the way manufacturers can hide this ingredient by calling it something else. Buyer beware becomes apparent after reading this article.

You can thank the FDA for allowing this deception. In fact, you may or may not be aware that Drug companies do not have to disclose they are using peanut oil in all vaccines because it is a trade secret. Mercury is NOT out of those mercury free shots! The FDA allows a small amount of mercury in the shots and they can be called “mercury free!”

There is a WAR going on folks and the enemy is the FDA, CDC, agricultural department of our government! Experiments are being waged on huge numbers of people using the microwave technologies to do it!

      • Kevin Hanity

All i want to know is can we win this war. Right now they seem to have the upper hand, but this may not last if there is enough people who understand what is happening.

        • Monique H

I appreciate the information on the mercury as well. I also know they still put thimerosol (sp?) in some vaccines because I asked at a pharmacy two years ago about the flu vaccine and whether it has it and she said “we won’t get the vaccine without it for a few more weeks.” This let me know that there are at least two formulas for flu vaccines and probably others.
A huge factor in what Kevin said about people being informed and getting the information out there may soon be the way the government is giving control of the internet to the FEC. This is a situation ripe for censoring just as Hitler/Germany and other regimes have done and still do to keep their citizenry either uninformed or misinformed.
The senate is considering a bill right now, I believe it is number 9155, that would basically override the state’s rights to require labeling of GMO foods, which is another sorry state of our rights to know what is in our food being stripped away.

I didn’t know MSG could cause so much harm. Thanks for setting the record straight. Eating out is a problem as there are no labels on your food.

  • Andy Reed

The problem with MSG is it can be anywhere anytime. I have a friend who gets an allergic reaction to this, so whenever we go out to eat we never know if he will react to the food. This is not only used in Chinese foods, but used in salad bars and regular restaurant food.

The answer you get from the restaurant may not be correct. Many of their foods are brought in and they don’t always know everything about the source. When we went with this friend to a restaurant that maintained they never use MSG, he reacted to their food with the same type of attack he would get from contact with MSG.

  • Martha P

There are many people who never realize that MSG is a problem. They blame it on the food itself and think that the reaction is to the meal.
