Higher vitamin C levels support better brain health
(NaturalHealth365) Vitamin C is well known for its ability to boost immune system health and fight off infections. From citrus fruit to supplemental forms, this powerful nutrient can be easily absorbed by the body and provides many health benefits. Unfortunately, too many people remain uneducated about the importance of vitamin C for brain health and cognitive function.
An Australian research effort called the CHALICE Cohort Study has found that vitamin C levels correlate directly with markers for cognitive and metabolic health in persons around age 50.
Direct correlation found between blood serum vitamin C levels and brain health
For the study, the participants undertook comprehensive dietary and health assessments, including dietary vitamin C intake and fasting plasma vitamin C concentrations. Around 62 percent were found to have inadequate plasma vitamin C concentrations, with more men than women experiencing this condition.
The people with the highest blood concentrations of plasma vitamin C were found to have the lowest levels of cognitive impairment.
Another Australian study of vitamin C status and cognitive functioning determined that vitamin C plays a key role in the development of many key brain components, including neurons.
Vitamin C fuels tissues, nerves and neurotransmitters crucial to brain health
Studies were conducted on both healthy participants and cognitively impaired individuals, including those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Vitamin C status was assessed based upon diet and plasma vitamin C levels.
Do NOT ignore the health dangers linked to toxic indoor air. These chemicals - the 'off-gassing' of paints, mattresses, carpets and other home/office building materials - increase your risk of headaches, dementia, heart disease and cancer.

Cognition tests such as the Mini-Mental-State-Examination (MMSE) were administered. Just as in the CHALICE Cohort Study, better cognitive function was associated with higher blood serum vitamin C levels.
Vitamin C has been associated with healthy brain and nerve functioning in other studies as well.
Keep in mind: it is crucial to the production of the neurotransmitters serotonin and noradrenaline, which regulate mood and protect against issues like macular degeneration, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, osteoarthritis and cancer. It is also a natural antihistamine, contributing to the reduction of allergies.
Liposomal vitamin C supplements can support many aspects of good health
This potent antioxidant protects all of the cells from damage. It plays a role in muscle and collagen production, assisting with repairing damaged tissues all around the body. When it comes to wound healing and immune system health, few vitamins are more important.
Vitamin C also helps to keep bones and teeth strong. In extremely high doses (10,000 mg or more), it can also fight serious infection and even cancer. This recent research highlights its crucial role in brain health and cognitive health throughout life as well as into older age.
It’s important to note that most of us cannot produce or store vitamin C, so it’s crucial to receive some every day through diet and supplementation. Many fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamin C, with citrus fruits, pineapples, strawberries and bell peppers being among the highest.
However, liposomal vitamin C provides the most efficient way to deliver the most nutrition directly into the cell – without being destroyed by digestive juices. And, while any form of vitamin C is better than none, it’s always best to choose a brand that avoids sourcing its ingredients from China. (for obvious toxicity issues)
